If we'd want to be wild and overkill the kludge, I tested with success (ie it
doesn't break any interface element anywhere - except in documentation, which
wouldn't be covered by our CSS) the following snippet in Greasemoney:

If readers are getting this CTA5 as frequently as I am, then of course they would be viewing the feedback page more often. Note that this could be caused by old cookies picking up CTA5, because when I post feedback using Chrome in incognito mode, I get CTA1 instead. Either way, this needs to be investigated further, as it could be causing too many readers to go to the feedback page. One possible option would be to restrict all non-editors from seeing this CTA5. Also, something strange is going on with the URL for the CTAs, as you can see in the attached screenshot: instead of saying CTA5, it is showing a long number, instead of CTA5 in the ref tag at the end of the URL. We don't want people to be getting the same CTA all the time, which is a bit repetitive and get annoying over time. Instead, we would rather show a different CTA each time, that is appropriate to your user group. So if you are a reader, we would alternate between these CTAs: * CTA1 - Edit - 50% of the time (unless this is a protected or semi-protected page) * CTA4 - Create an account or log in - 20% of the time (if they are logged out) * CTA5 - View feedback page - 20% of the time * CTA2 - Learn more - 10% of the time (or in place of CTA1 if this is a protected or semi-protected page) But if you are a registered editor, we would alternate between these CTAs: * CTA5 - View feedback page - 90% of the time * CTA6 - Visit Teahouse - 10% of the time (if they are auto-confirmed) And if you are an anonymous editor, we could alternate between these CTAs: * CTA5 - View feedback page - 70% of the time * CTA4 - Create an account or log in - 20% of the time (if they are logged out) * CTA6 - Visit Teahouse - 10% of the time (if they are auto-confirmed) Would this be possible? Or does the current bucketing scheme not support this scenario? If there is an issue, we could redesign this to match what the technology can do. In UploadWizard, we have a bunch of messages used in the UI to indicate what's
going on with the file or the files. We've been using {{PLURAL}} properly, and
that was great.
However, there appears to be a bug with core now. I'm only getting the plural
version, never the singular one.
I have been unable to pinpoint the source of the error, since apparently the
localisation cache helps to befuddle git-bisect. However, I've been generally
convinced that it's a core bug because of the constant state of UploadWizard
through my testing.
This is blocking me from writing accurate tests for UploadWizard, sadly, so I'd
like to solve this problem soon.

I'm only getting the plural version FROM THE SERVER. The {{PLURAL}} tag is
never even stored on the client side when this bug occurs.

If in the mobile phone camera the user has set 'add my location' the gps coordinates will appear in the EXIF data. I currently am not doing this on my camera so it was not sent. It seems unfair to ask the user before an upload if they want to send their location as well - this would give them 2 places to manage that - and that location is not necessarily correct anyway as the information we do have may be out of date. We can look it up again but that will slow down the upload process. OK, now that we're through most of the Swift migration, we should pick this one
up again.
This still occurs and is easily reproducible by uploading a 300-400MB file to
Commons via Upload Wizard with chunked uploading enabled.
Looking at the API responses in details, what happens is that there's a final
chunk API request which results in a "Wikimedia Error" webpage response like
this:
Request: POST http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php, from 208.80.154.134 via
cp1002.eqiad.wmnet (squid/2.7.STABLE9) to 10.64.0.125 (10.64.0.125)
Error: ERR_READ_TIMEOUT, errno [No Error] at Wed, 29 Aug 2012 21:46:36 GMT
Upload Wizard then seems to attempt to re-upload the same chunk again, with the
following response code:

This response code is then surfaced through the UI.
So it looks like the chunk re-assembly for large files is still timing out
somewhere.
