TASK DESCRIPTION
It would be nice to add common predicates and names to the completion, such
as:

  - rdfs:label
  - schema:description
  - wikibase:rank
  - wikibase:Property

etc. The list can be based on what we have in

We don't have to have all those but at least ones that used in
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikibase/Indexing/SPARQL_Query_Examples may be
helpful.

Re: [Wikidata] SQID: the new "Wikidata classes and properties browser"

2016-04-22 Thread Info WorldUniversity
Markus, Magnus, Michael, Markus, Georg, Ryan, Jan, Lydia and Wikidatans,

SQID is really bioluminescently & fluidly great and seems like it would be
very relevant for WUaS as well, and re WUaS's main SUBJECT TEMPLATE -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - which is the basis
for almost all of WUaS's ~720 current wiki pages. However, it will be
difficult to test this because the WUaS MediaWiki in English -
http://worlduniversityandschool.org/WUaS_En_Wiki - and in German -
http://worlduniversityandschool.org/WUaS_De_Wiki/ - seemed to stop working
about yesterday.

(Major Creative Commons' licensed research universities (accrediting on CC
MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC) in all countries' main languages
will emerge, for example, from the WUaS Nation States' wiki page
http://worlduniversityandschool.org/WUaS_En_Wiki/index.php?title=Nation_States
(formerly - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Nation_States), and
develop with AI and machine translation).

After donating CC WUaS to CC Wikidata last autumn, two Wikimedians at the
WikiDev conference from Jan 4-6 in SF helped install WUaS MediaWiki, but
these WUaS MediaWiki pages again became inaccessible yesterday or recently.
Thank you, Ryan Kaldari, Jan Zerebecki and the WikiDev 2016 conference! Any
suggestions how I might test SQID with the old main WUaS Wikia SUBJECT
TEMPLATE (http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - and in
Wikidata? (WUaS is planning a Music School with ALL musical instruments in
ALL 7,943 languages+, each a wiki page for open teaching and learning to
begin, e.g. from here -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Music_School).

WUaS seeks to become a growth story for the Internet in all languages and
countries, and WUaS was happy to have donated CC WUaS to CC Wikidata.

Best,
Scott

And how do you request deletion ?

One idea is to use a multipart contenthandler. The Page namespace of
wikisource does this. That way, you can have a part wikitext and a part json.
But also potentially adds to confusion

  More important semi-bikeshed questions:

  - How should we store licenses? Is there a license ID of any sorts? I
wouldn't want free form license field text if possible.
  - Are there any other metadata fields required?
  - Should we support datetime fields in mediawiki datetime format? (I would
love to re-use all the Wikidata data types, but apparently it is not easy to
refactor them out)

We also have items for some of the larger TED events. More information

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T133026: [Bug] WDQS GUI caching

  > Mediawiki its JS module loader correctly implements more than what this

Is this loader available outside mediawiki? If not, can we make it available
as a separate library so other projects could use it?

  > The code needed to display the WDQS GUI on a special page would be small.

Of course, you can include any HTML on special page of a wiki, but why do
that? I'm not sure I see a point in it. That looks like completely artificial
dependency to me.

  > I'd suggest moving the WDQS GUI to a Mediawiki extension,

I'm not sure how this makes sense. WDQS GUI has nothing to do with Mediawiki
and Mediawiki extensions. If we have some build that works for mediawiki exts,
we should generalize it to work with other things, not make unrelated projects
pretend that they are Mediawiki extensions.

2016-04-22 Thread brion
brion added a comment.

@yurik: The W3C CSV on the Web working group's metadata model recommendation
refers to "columns" with attributes for "name" and "titles" (plural, allowing
alternates or per-language variants), with similar recommended character
restrictions on "name" for ease of programmatic use:
https://www.w3.org/TR/2015/REC-tabular-metadata-20151217/#dfn-column-description

So following the naming model would give us either separate "column_name" and
"column_title" keys containing lists of strings/localized string map objs... or
following the W3C data model a little more closely would give us a "column" key
containing a list of objects with their own "name" and "title"(s?) props.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Updated] T133026: [Bug] WDQS GUI caching

2016-04-22 Thread JanZerebecki
JanZerebecki added a comment.

I know I'm repeating myself, but for some this is probably not a repeat: This
is reimplementing part of what Mediawiki provides, but at the same time is not
further along nor provides any advantage over what Mediawiki provides.
Mediawiki its JS module loader correctly implements more than what this task is
about. The code needed to display the WDQS GUI on a special page would be
small. One thing isn't solved for Mediawiki: A step that runs npm to pull in JS
components. I started https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T133388 (an RFC) for
that. But the WDQS GUI repo doesn't implement that either.

I'd suggest moving the WDQS GUI to a Mediawiki extension, as that is required
for some things we want to do in the future anyway. @Jonas do you want to go
that route?

  ---

Yes, as pointed out, deploying WDQS requires more manual steps since the gui
repo was created. I would have liked for it to get more automated instead.
Please remember that this is a production service, other people need to be able
to contribute and need to deploy security fixes. For my taste that would
require being capable of continuous deployment.

@brion, the pretty printing is for diffs - makes them much easier to digest.
A while ago I also tried to make the actual storage use a non-pretty-printed
version, but I guess I never finished that part.

@brion, re spaces in headers - I want header names to be identifiers - after
all, the target audience is Lua scripts and Graphs - both are programming
languages. It makes it much easier to use, because i can simply say
`datum.buildingHeight` instead of `datum["building height"]` in vega or in Lua.
@Eloy has made some suggestions
on how to localize them, and I think we should go with the second option -
"headers.i18n": [ { "en":"blah", "fr": "blah", ...}, ...] for header
localization.

@matmarex, exactly - the page-size limitation restricts how these datasets
are used. In a way, this is a much easier to implement and more flexible
"multi-stream" proposal, that will allow editors to create shared lists and
tables. The giant dataset storage with the proper query interface is a
separate task all together. We want to have it, but it is a much bigger target
with a much bigger resource requirements.

P.S. For some reason I don't get email notifications from phab anymore :(

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T133381: Add support for foreign entities to EntityId

2016-04-22 Thread daniel
daniel created this task.
Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper.

TASK DESCRIPTION
Based on the discussion around https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T56085 and
previously on https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T101752, I propose to add
support for "foreign" EntityIds[*] as follows described below:

[*let's reserve "external" for the external-id property data type]

  - EntityId gets an additional field `repository`, which contains the logical
name of the repository that the ID refers to. This serves as a namespace
mechanism for entity IDs. The name used to refer to a given repo is local, and
can differ from client to client.
  - repository names can be used to look up the repository Site object, which
in turn allows the ID to be mapped to the currect URI, URL, or api path for the
repo it belongs to.
  - The empty repository name "" refers to the local wiki.
  - The serialization of the EntityId follows the pattern `:`.
If `` is empty, the leading ":" is optional. This format follows
the convention set by XML namespaces, RDF prefixes, and MediaWiki interwiki
links.
  - Repository names can be mapped during serialization and deserialization.
  - When reading data from a another repo, repo names in entity ids get mapped
from the names used on the other repo to the names used on the local wiki. In
particular, the empty prefix is mapped to the foreign repo's name while reading
ids.
  - When writing data to a another repo, repo names in entity ids get mapped
from the names used on the local wiki to the names used on the foreign repo. In
particular, the foreign wiki's name is mapped to the empty prefix.
  - The repo name in an EntityId object can always be assumed to match the
local definition of that name. A repo name in serialized data however cannot be
interpreted without knowing which repo it came from.

[Wikidata] Federated queries between wikidata and e.g. sparql.uniprot.org

2016-04-22 Thread Jerven Tjalling Bolleman

Dear Wikidata developers and contributors,

I see that it is currently not possible to run federated queries from
wikidata to other sparql endpoints. I understand why you are not
allowing this in the general case. However, it would be nice to allow
this in the special case.

Would a patch allowing limited known remote sparql endpoints to
org.wikidata.query.rdf.blazegraph.WikibaseContextListener
be possible?

Regards,
Jerven Bolleman
