[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T97886: Enable language-neutral label for items in Wikidata
Effeietsanders created this task. Effeietsanders added a subscriber: Effeietsanders. Effeietsanders added a project: Wikidata. Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper. TASK DESCRIPTION There are quite a number of items/topics where the label could be (mostly) language neutral, for example a natural person or a number. For these instances, it would be helpful to also allow a language neutral label, which would be the default label unless something else is defined in a language. That way the search queries look much more logical. The same would be accomplished by automatically adding the same label in all languages available, but that would be a nasty workaround. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Closed] T97882: Support multiple scripts for one language
daniel added a subscriber: daniel. daniel closed this task as Invalid. daniel added a comment. Automatic transliteration of labels is already applied as part of the language fallback mechanism, if MediaWiki supports transliteration for the respective language variants. So, if you have your user language set to sr-el, you should see the latinized version of any labels entered in sr-ec or plain sr. Try uselang=sr-el, you will see a lot of serbian (transliterated) markers in the statements. Note that this currently applies only for labels of items and properties used as parts of statements (and it's broken for qualifiers at the moment, see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88275). It does not apply to the editable labels (and descriptions and aliases) at the top of entity pages, since it is unclear how language fallback should interact with editing. I'm closing this as invalid, since the general functionality is already there. If what you want is language fallback for the main label description of an entity page, please file a ticket explicitly for that, it's mainly an issue of UI design. Perhaps we could just drop editing in the top bar, and rely on the term box for editing? That would allow us to apply language fallback there. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T97894: Autocomplete for language in 'official name' does not work properly
Effeietsanders created this task. Effeietsanders added a subscriber: Effeietsanders. Effeietsanders added a project: Wikidata. Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper. TASK DESCRIPTION When I add 'official name' (in this particular case Q595668, only after the second or third instance) you get a mandatory field 'language'. I typed 'dut' and clicked on 'dutch (nl)' from the rollout menu. After filling in the other field (qualifiers etc), I get the following error which does not allow me to save: An error occurred while saving. Your changes could not be completed. details clicking on details showed: Illegal value: dut. It seems that in this set of conditions, clicking on the language does not actually autocomplete the language, but it stores whatever I typed (in this case, dut). [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T97891: setHTMLTitle to empty string or false should prevent rendering of H1 on page
Florian added a subscriber: Florian. Florian added a comment. I think you mean OutputPage::setPageTitle()? OutputPage::setHTMLTitle() only set's the title-tag in head. The problem is, that the h1 element isn't created by mediawiki core. Each skin uses the title (which can be set by OutputPage) to create the h1 tag alone, see e.g. Vector https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-skins-Vector/blob/master/VectorTemplate.php#L110-L114. So, for compatible reasons,it's abit more complicated to find a standard way (but would be possible and we could start implementing a way for wmf-deployed skins). The first for pages currently don't need an item (e.g. pages in Afd), the second for completely non-notable pages (and pages with the second magic word but linked should be automatically added to a category). TASK DESCRIPTION In various places, Flow, Gather, Wikidata want to rendering the h1 differently. To do this they use $out-setHTMLTitle( '' ); which creates an empty h1. This can lead so side effects.
