TASK DESCRIPTION The Wikidata JSON dumps are currently being rsynced from the datasets server to `/public/dumps/public/wikidatawiki/entities` on a daily basis via cron. However, it conflicts with the rsync job that pushes new dumps to its parent directory, which is a mirror and thus deletes other files that are not the main database dumps. Basically, this means that the Wikidata JSON dumps are being copied to the directory mentioned, but are deleted when new database dumps for wikidatawiki is made available. This thus causes the JSON dumps to be re-copied again and only to be deleted about a month later via the main database dumps rsync job, which generates a lot of bandwidth with no gain and blocks T101639. Looking at the script that does the rsync job for the main database dumps, it is unlikely that it would be modified to accommodate the JSON dumps being in the same directory. I propose that the JSON dumps should be pushed to a different directory (such as `/public/dumps/wikibase`) just like the other miscellaneous files we have. aude added a comment. here i am typing: s + v + tab for svwiki then selects it and focuses on the collapse link below then, t + r + tab for trwiki and selects it and focus is on the collapse link. then I try to enter e + s + tab for eswiki and it instead picks eewiki or eowiki and manages to focus on the page title input because that's not what i want, i try to remove it. the trash can is not available so i remove the characters eowiki with backspace/del and then sometimes it starts deleting the entry above as well (trwiki page). I have to fix the trwiki page and then can save. Automatic reloading doesn't seem to be a nice and intuitive praxis. How did the MediaViewer team fix this? I think they had a similar issue with the scrollbar jumping top after navigating backwards. Deskana added a comment. The issue what to do about suppression of content is still unresolved. The issue is exceedingly rare; looking at the suppression log, there's only been two suppressions in the past year where content was removed from Wikidata items using suppressions. This is not surprising, given the nature of the data in Wikidata; there are few opportunities to enter free-form text which could contain suppressable material. Given the above, I'm concerned we're over-engineering a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist in any meaningful sense. Not moving ahead with the deployment because of a theroetical problem would be a disappointing outcome. I would like @SMalyshev and @ZhouZ's thoughts on this. Only complete suppressed deletion of the article is a problem. ZhouZ added a comment. That's good this does not seem like a big problem. You're right - we should not hold up the release because of this corner case. Nonetheless, if in fact there's a suppression deletion, it could be a sign of a major issue, in which case we would want the Query service data to also have the new conforming data. Can we 1) be notified whenever a complete suppression delete has occurred and/or 2) have a easy process to force a manual sync of the Query service whenever it becomes necessary from legal perspective to do so.
