If the user doesn't like the auto-description then the user can fix the two or 
three wikidata statements used to generate the description. This will fix the 
description in all languages so this is what we should be encouraging. Fixing 
the English description will just fix the English description.

I am shocked the description of this bug does not mention improving 
Localisation which, for me, is the most important thing about this bug.

The cause here is that the `php` command switched from Zend PHP 5.3 to HHVM 
when snapshot1003 got upgraded. I don't know whether this is a bug in your code 
or in HHVM or something else. Please note that we don't run the latest HHVM.

I manually recreated the RDF using zend php now and have a patch up that will 
change the binary being used to Zend php. I don't know whether there's more to 
do here (like fixing an underlying problem in the script) or whether we can 
close this.

  It would be interesting to have a dashboard that shows how many requests to 
WDQS query endpoint end in timeout and how many end in some sort of error (such 
as bad syntax, etc).
  
  Timeout can be recognized by request time of 30s or more (assuming it's 
recorded) and status code of 500, syntax error is status code of 400.

this happens to me also on beta.

this is because the js is quite slow in loading sometimes and if you are too 
quick to click [edit] then it takes you to the special page :(

Now the old jobs are switched back to saucelabs again and new jobs are created 
that do not use saucelabs. There are many different problems at the same time, 
so it is unclear if saucelabs bug is even a problem. Once we manage to get one 
of the jobs non-flaky, we'll revisit if we run them on saucelabs.

It is not a question of resources. No resources are needed for it, it's already 
done and the only thing missing is permission from Ops to actually run it. It 
costs us literally nothing but willing to do it.

Now we have a choice whether we want to serve our users, which asked us for it, 
however theoretically imperfect the using POST for queries may be, or we can 
reject them telling them their tools are not conforming to our high theoretical 
standards so they can not get access to our data and they can do nothing about 
it (telling them to fix those tools is akin to telling people to fix Windows XP 
- it's just not going to happen, they are users, not creators of those tools). 
I do not see anybody who benefits from such rejection, but since it's not my 
decision, I don't see what else I can do here. The patch is there, if there 
ever will be the decision to use it, it'll still be there. Until then, the 
access to our data for those users will not be possible.

Hey @Smalyshev sorry you were ready to roll on this and it got locked up in 
debate.  I appreciate what you are saying here I really do.  In large part it 
comes down to the idea of what is practical as you said.  We have opposite 
ideas in this case.  From my POV here we are trying to hide the complexity for 
poorly written clients on our end and we have few resources to do such things 
over the long term.  We do make many decisions about how far down this gradient 
to travel in the pursuit of sane user expectations, SNI 
 is a 
good example where we are using it though we know a not insignificant amount of 
users are suck in XP land.  I'm not saying this is a 1:1 example.

I do think we are missing each other on the 'use case' bit here.  I believe I 
understand this:

From this angle is every poorly written tool a use case?  We don't seem we have 
a backlog of users who are held up trying to use POST to make queries and 
without specific examples to push this narrative along I am viewing this as 
premature complexity.  We know poorly written tools exist for everything.  We 
generally don't try to head them off at the pass.

I did look through a bunch of sparql tools to get an idea and there was at 
least one 
 
default POSTer that I found, but it can be changed.  The majority of tools I 
see do the sane thing:

Not that this is a slam dunk argument either way.   Maybe we revisit in the

support.  If you feel strongly about this bring it up in Scrum of Scrums to get 
more visibility?

I think you may be referring to the first link of the meetbot notes, which was 
ended before we stopped discussing.  Starting at [19:17:26]  in the chat 
logs , 
it seems clear to me that the consensus is that unless there are good reasons 
to ditch something that already does most of what this project is about, then 
we should adapt what we are already using.  If I'm mistaken, please correct me.

Getting closer here , need some help 
on the API big time.  Will also need to revisit some meta schema design things 
over on https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T116247 to make things easier for 
EventLogging.

@gwicke, I think this may be a problem.  From my perspective, the goal of this 
project is a generalized event service with well designed and standardized 
schemas for all of WMF.  For this MVP, we have chosen to model change events 
because that is what you are interested in.  This is an 'MVP', and will likely 
require iteration after the first deployment.  I don't think having a live 
services production goal based on this is realistic.

That is one of the reasons for sticking with EventLogging.  It is already 
useable by small installs without Kafka.
