  - performance-sensitive hooks may want to cache/singletonize the instance 
created from global state
- Example: MappingConfigHookHandler
- SL pattern as a stepping stone towards DI. -> Recipe for converting a 
class to use DI
  
  - Where do we get the locator from in the initial implementations (not the 
idealized world)?
- ideally for non-statics you would be injecting via the constructor
- better than nothing would be to use the global service locator to fetch 
the things you need
- as the refactoring spreads you hoist the use of the global locator higher 
and higher
  
  - refactoring recommendations for smart record objects recommends split to 
dumb record, lookup, and store interfaces
  - is lookup/store split necessary?
  - is a little more boilerplate :(
  - allows it to be an implementation detail whether they are same class or not 
:)
  - static analysis can confirm that you're not using writing code in a 
read-only area
  - beware runtime type hinting won't save you if the store & load are 
implemented on same class! static analysis still cactches it
  - most important part is splitting the record from the accessor!
  - (etherpad only) bd808 would acutally prefer the data access object (DAO) 
pattern where one controller is responsible for both load and store of dumb 
objects using methods like "getFooWithX( $x )" and "storeFoo( $foo )". But 
whatever, just kill all smart model classes plz.
  
  
  
  - chicken-egg problem in configuration
  - if we create database connections etc early on to get config, how can we 
replace them afterwards? etc
  - possible: method to "cannibalize" existing instance when creating 'new' 
one, if the config/state is the same don't throw away the old one?

  @Dereckson There are a lot with this extension that needs polishing, but 
without being able to interact with it is a bit difficult to say what works and 
whats not.
  
  Capitalization in Norwegian is simpler than many other languages, but it 
could pose problems. Usually it is safe to enforce upper case on first letter 
in a title, unless there are strange entity names like "iPod". The description 
will typically be merged with the label by use of a comma, unless there is a 
ndash. An hyphen can be rewritten into a ndash if there is a following space, 
and can probably always be rewritten without creating much errors.

about ArticlePlaceholder. As I recall you asked for sites where this extension 
could be tested, and nnwiki is pretty small in overall traffic, and now you say 
nnwiki is a too big project. Is this extension production quality or not?

  This should be handled by Wikidata's existing (soft) constraint system, but 
there is no way currently to do a "Math" constraint.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  It would be nice to have similar properties IDs in wikidata test and wikidata 
so people who develop bots can easily do it transparently on Wikidata test 
without requirement to remap the properties ids.
  
  Crazy idea:
  
  1. Completely remove Wikidata test database tables (it's going to be fun!) or 
at least all the properties
  2. Import all the properties from Wikidata
  
  It doesn't have to completely sync with wikidata - but even if we do it once 
a month it is probably enough (usually "important" or "useful" properties are 
with lower IDs, except when new data types are introduced)

  Some preliminary thoughts regarding the implementation:
  
  The task can be implemented as an extension that does two things:
  
  - On page edit, update a central data store that the page exists in the 
language of the currently used wiktionary.
  - On page render, query the central data store for all existing translations 
and insert the information in the page structure.
  
  The "central data store" must be a database that is accessible from all 
wiktionary projects. Proposed table structure:
  
  | lang | title | last_updated |
  
  `lang` and `title` must be indexed.
  
  On initialization the table must be filled with the existing data. This could 
be done by querying the API and crawling each wiktionary with a bot or by 
direct database access. This still has to be determined.
  
  Regarding the comment by @Darkdadaah: Wiktionary is in the unique situation 
that each word //should// be the same in each language version. Where they 
differ, there must be a redirect page, as in the case pointed out by Darkdadaah.
