  I too am curious to hear (1) how these placeholders (which I really like) 
will show up and be indexed and (2) if readers will start blurring (as in, not 
understanding) the distinction between WP articles and placeholders, which will 
certainly raise concerns for the part of the WP community most sensitive to 
notability criteria. I imagine this has been extensively discussed, if it has 
do you have a pointer handy?

  When searching for a topic that is not covered on the Wikipedia but has 
information on Wikidata the items should show up in the search results and link 
to the ArticlePlaceholder for them. This is not working on the 4 Wikipedias we 
rolled out to. It did work on the test system.
  
  Possible reason: The test system had repo and client in one.

  I think what we saw was the data in the database in regards to usage tracking 
cleaning itself up.
  The trend now seems to be going upward.

  When running a query on the webrequest table for 2016/05/10 on wikidata wiki 
looking at the page Special:RecentChangesLinked grouped by agent type I get

  The same timeframe through the pageview api shows very different numbers.

  @Nirzar Just a note that the current CSS implementation actually sentence 
cases the sentence by leveraging the `:first-letter` pseudo-selector so it is 
actually doing proper sentence casing and not title casing.

  So we're currently have several experiments in play trying to figure this out:
  
  1. We've got 2x upstream bugfixes applied to our varnishd on cache_misc:

  2. We've removed all of our Content-Length sensitive VCL that was on 
cache_misc temporarily (basically https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/288231/ , 
which at one point we partially put back, but then removed again)
  
  3. We've switched from persistent to file storage on the misc backends, 
manually with puppet disabled.  Puppetization to make that semi-permanent if 
need be: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/288440 (untested)
  
  I don't think anyone has reproduced the problem since (3) went live 
everywhere.  So we're in a new state and needing proof that things are still 
messed up (or not!).

  the first letter being lowercase gives a sense of incompleteness in a 
sentence < like this.
  
  It's difficult to quantify or rationalize this but sentence case has a better 
sense of human intervention. in branding otherwise, sometimes companies use all 
lowercase to suggest the "casualness" of the company. that's why facebooks F is 
lowercase. If you see, sentence case is used in as a standard in English prose 
and our communication also follows it throughout the product.

  I strongly believe we should use "Sentence case" descriptions. but the bigger 
problem is, CSS doesn't have sentence case as an option. it has Capitalize 
which makes the first letter of every word capitalised. that's just title case.
  
  overall this is a obvious choice. Communications dept within WMF also uses 
Sentence case.
  
  as far as I know, cases don't exist in other scripts like devnagari (for 
hindi, marathi) and if i am not wrong, hebrew according to wikipedia.

  Thiemo asked me about my UX view on that issue. In general, the single-escape

  In the merged ticket above, it's browser access to status.wm.o, and the 
browser's getting a 304 Not Modified and complaining about it (due to missing 
character encoding supposedly, but it's entirely likely it's missing everything

  Whenever I pick a search result from Wikipedia, I expect it to be a real 
article with at least some content written by a human. I'd be very disappointed 
in finding the page filled with machine-generated infoboxes just like the ones 
displayed by some search engines. What I mean you can easily find elsewhere

  Generally new contributors to Wiki**p**edia are unaware that other language 
versions exist. However, if they are aware of that, and if they care how other 
languages perceive their data, they are welcome to contribute their data on 
Wikidata.  If Wiki**p**edians want to make use of Wikidata in articles, they 
can use that data by copying the data or by using Lua templates available on

contribute to Wikidata, they need to provide more data than just a label. Item 
creations that only contain a label are generally deleted. Currently there are

and categories to do their work, but these are just two things that 
Wiki**p**edia redirects lack. Redirects lack the rest of the Wiki**p**edia

redirect get more data than label+sitelink? Are you envisioning things like 
categories and infoboxes for redirects on Wiki**p**edia?
