Asking others to set up redirects might be an easy solution, but I'm not sure if using another redirect service is really good practice. I can understand that you don't want to include code specific to each url, but between doing this and writing a module that allows freely configurable transformations, there should be middle way. One solution could be to add simply offer a list of transformations that can be applied. A qualifier on the formatter url can select that. Qualifier value "1" would be the default: replace $1 with value (As it's currently done). Qualifier value "2": strip whitespaces, then replace $1 with value Qualifier value "3": only apply values starting with a specific string (defined in another qualifier). daniel added a comment. I vote for separate data types for maps, tabular data (and media files). The purpose of data types is to defined the semantics of a value, and thereby determine how a value is displayed and edited. I'd like to have the option to show shapes and tables in different ways, even if we just show the page title initially. More importantly, when selecting a geo-shape, i want suggestions only for geo-shapes, not for other data. So they need to have separate data types. On the level of data value types, tabular data and geo-data can share a type. We can probably have a value type that is just an arbitrary wiki page reference. hoo added a comment. The IMDB handler (P345) just maps various id prefixes to URLs, that's best addressed by splitting the property in question (which has been discussed, but declined before). Various consumers (for example the English Wikipedia), have similar handling for separating the various kinds of IMDB ids. P213, P919 and possibly others perform simple string changes which could also be applied to the values saved. In some cases that might not be desirable, though (because the ID representation used for linking might differ from the actual ID). The cricket archive handler (P2698) uses different paths in the URL, based on the value of the id. Things I find critical:
Add much more test cases to the parser (see the list of formats above) and make is as robust as possible. But don't make it to "clever". It should behave in a way that's easy to understand.
Write documentation for this parser.
Do some benchmarking to make sure the re-ordering succeeds in a few milliseconds, and there are no worst cases.
What happens is the parser entirely fails and returns an empty list? Is there a way we can make the community aware of such a situation?
All code should be robust and work just fine when there is no order (null or an empty array) for some reason.
The caching is fine as far as I can tell. See CachingPropertyOrderProvider.

thiemowmde added a comment. I had a quit look at PageTranslationTaggingText and wonder. It looks like this test sets some protection levels but never cleans up after it finished. There is no tearDown, tearDownAfterClass or something like this. This should not be relevant because the file is marked with @Database, which means it runs on a clean copy, as far as I know.
