[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T145522: [feature request] how to clean up redirects in sitelinks
2015.ww added a comment. @Alphos: Thanks for replying, not sure I understand fully why would you bring up the browsers as my link-redirect question is about software function or perhaps design (not the url redirection itself as the existing function of wikimedia software), so ultimately it is about how such links are going to be constructed (permitted, validated..) within wiki software, I think? -- so that’d be at a level, figuratively speaking, prior to rendering by browser. Also, the (x|ht|xht)ml elements you mention, xml being about data and html & xhtml about presentation, yes all are about markup but of different nature, speaking of which... I am wondering if a description of an extension http://www.rddl.org/natures/ might be of any interest. Debate is out of scope :) - I am still looking to answer some questions though.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T145522EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: matej_suchanek, 2015.wwCc: 2015.ww, TomT0m, Lydia_Pintscher, Alphos, Aklapper, Esc3300, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T157573: Item lable table opened/closed by a link, should indicate visual connection between both states.
JGirault added a comment. I'm gonna give my 2 cents on the topic: Design critique The current version (blue link preceded with right or down arrow) is, I believe, very inconsistent with any other user interface. Introducing a line below the text does not make it more intuitive to me. I'd rather avoid the line and add a left margin to the table to display some hierarchy. The accordion-element like option does not make it more intuitive either. In fact, I think it makes the table more confusing (there is now another header row to the table, although not helping the rows and columns definition) and makes the presentation more cluttered in general. Suggestion If possible, I think I would like to see something similar as the collapsible sections in MobileFrontend (minerva skin) F5559266: Screen Shot 2017-02-08 at 4.11.20 PM.png Side note For the record there is also this option Manual:Collapsible_elements, but I can't see it as an interesting solution (imho, doesn't look very good and wouldn't fit well in the UI). [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T157570: Introduce RepositoryDefintiions for object repository settings
WMDE-leszek created this task.WMDE-leszek added projects: Wikidata, Wikidata-Sprint. TASK DESCRIPTIONCurrently repository settings are defined as Client's "foreignRepositories" setting. Loaded in Client particular settings are passed to several relevant classes (ie. DispatchingServiceFactory, RepositoryServiceContainerFactory) as different kinds of arrays. When Client enabled Repo also accesses Client's "foreignRepositories" setting to read information on entity types defined per repository. In order for both classes requiring repository-config-related information and both Repo have a consistent way of accessing information defined in Client setting, RepositoryDefinitions object (similar to EntityTypeDefinitions and DataTypeDefinitions) should be introduced. The object will be populated with settings from the "foreignRepositories" settings and will be providing information required by Repo and relevant service factories (ie. it would have methods like getRepositoryDatabases returning mapping from repository names to database names, etc). Also, having this kind of abstraction would make transition easier if we wanted to change the way how repositories are defined (e.g. move it out of Client settings).TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T157570EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: WMDE-leszekCc: daniel, Aklapper, Lydia_Pintscher, WMDE-leszek, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

I have investigated jobs 253-258, so 6 days, or 1266 tests. "The Sauce VMs failed to start the browser or device" error has appeared 5 times. 5/1266 = 0.0039 or 0.4%. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T145522: [feature request] how to clean up redirects in sitelinks
Alphos added a comment. The debate is long over. Links MUST point to articles specifically about the entity described. Not sections, not redirects, not articles about generic entities, not articles about something unrelated. There can be no exceptions. This is especially useful to machines, which are the first consumers of Wikidata - including interwikis on Wikipedia, as they're served to you by machines that need to get them from Wikidata. Machines can't read URL fragments in a meaningful fashion, only browsers will scroll until the top of the screen aligns with the top of the (x|ht|xht)ml element with the id specified as fragment so the user can read from their screen, but that's browser behaviour for web browsing, and should not be expected from other software. Additionally, assuming the debate wasn't over, this would not be the appropriate place to have it, so please, drop it.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T145522EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: matej_suchanek, AlphosCc: 2015.ww, TomT0m, Lydia_Pintscher, Alphos, Aklapper, Esc3300, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

zeljkofilipin added a comment. Albert Sison (Sauce Labs Help Center) Feb 3, 1:20 PM PST Hello, Thanks for writing in to Sauce Labs support. Regarding this specific ”Internal Server Error", this means the VM to run the test started and then become unresponsive. The VM appears to have hit a resource limit and crashed. It’s hard to tell exactly what limit was hit. Later our services tried to restart the VM, but by that point the test was no longer registered as an active job (i.e. it had “gone stale”), and the job failed. This is a type of failure we’ve seen before: where a VM hits a resource limit and crashes. It’s a known problem where we don’t know the exact cause, not enough to prevent it from happening again. In the engineer’s words, it is a “rare but expected scenario”. More information about this error can be found here: https://wiki.saucelabs.com/display/DOCS/Common+Error+Messages#CommonErrorMessages-InternalServerError As for the "The connection with your VM was lost and your job can't complete." error, if you only get this message rarely and randomly, it is probably a fluke on our end caused by an infrastructure blip as mentioned on our error page: https://wiki.saucelabs.com/display/DOCS/Common+Error+Messages#CommonErrorMessages-TheConnectionwithYourVirtualMachinewasLostandYourJobCan'tComplete For "The Sauce VMs failed to start the browser or device." error, what percentage of your tests are affected by this specific error? I noticed all the Sauce job URLs provided were testing against Linux/Chrome 48. For diagnostic purposes, can you try testing against a different OS such as Windows 10 or OSX and let us know if you notice any improvements? Thanks for your patience and understanding. In T138652#3008489, @Ladsgroup wrote: Also if someone updates the given message key it's going to stay there and not propagate through cache, because message keys are designed to be unchangeable. ...unless we track the message usage via templatelinks, with, as you said, will add one row for each (content) page in the wiki. 1- Hooks before parsing the page such as ParserBeforeInternalParse which makes us amend stuff to the wikitext before it gets parsed to HTML This seems to be the best option to me, if we can overcome the tracking/parsing issue above. One approach would be: if we know that ALL pages are using a specific template (or message), we don't need to track that in the database, we can just purge ALL pages when that template (or message) changes. However, puring ALL pages is a scary prospect... that's the main problem of this proposal in my mind. 2- After parsing and we would inject the HTML so we would need to sanatize (escape), fix caching and so many other problems. Right, if we use the ParserAfterParse hook, we would probably run the parser against the message content manually; we probably can't use Message.parse(). That would need more investigation. It should be mentioned that this option puts the resulting HTML into the ParserOutput object, making use of the parser cache. 3- Use PageBeforeDisplay hook which is as the same as 2. It's not quite the sames as 2: PageBeforeDisplay is called every time the page is shown, even if it is not rendered. If use it, we cannot use the parser cache. But we would still have to re-parse the template/message very time, because we have to parse it in the context of the page being shown (so we can e.g. know which Wikidata item is connected). We cannot use the Message cache, since that would loose that context: the output would be the same for all pages.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T138652EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: danielCc: daniel, Ladsgroup, aaron, Shizhao, Scott_WUaS, Mr.Ajedrez, dgstranz, Liuxinyu970226, jeblad, Lydia_Pintscher, hoo, Addshore, thiemowmde, Agabi10, Platonides, -jem-, Ivanhercaz, Krenair, Sjoerddebruin, Aklapper, abian, Zppix, JakeTheDeveloper, D3r1ck01, MuhammadShuaib, Izno, Psychoslave, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Arrbee, KartikMistry, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Ladsgroup added a comment. Okay, We talked about this in our weekly meeting and this is the result: It adds several layers of complexity specially in matter of cache. If we want to do anything that starts to add backlinks in any possible way. This is going to blow the templatelinks table (and probably the whole database). Also if someone updates the given message key it's going to stay there and not propagate through cache because message keys are designed to be unchangeable. In a more technical level. I think we should have an extension that uses one of the registered hooks. We have several options: 1- Hooks before parsing the page such as ParserBeforeInternalParse which makes us amend stuff to the wikitext before it gets parsed to HTML so practically we were just making all pages a little bit longer 2- After parsing and we would inject the HTML so we would need to sanatize (escape), fix caching and so many other problems. 3- Use PageBeforeDisplay hook which is as the same as 2.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T138652EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: LadsgroupCc: Ladsgroup, aaron, Shizhao, Scott_WUaS, Mr.Ajedrez, dgstranz, Liuxinyu970226, jeblad, Lydia_Pintscher, hoo, Addshore, thiemowmde, Agabi10, Platonides, -jem-, Ivanhercaz, Krenair, Sjoerddebruin, Aklapper, abian, Zppix, JakeTheDeveloper, D3r1ck01, MuhammadShuaib, Izno, Psychoslave, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Arrbee, KartikMistry, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
