TASK DESCRIPTIONThe list of grammatical features should look similar as outline in the hand-drawn mock shown in T162790. In order to achieve, check there is an existing UI widget that could be used to create such a list. To my best knowledge, there is no such list in Wikibase UI so far, so we cannot just something we already have. After brainstorming with @Aleksey_WMDE and @Jakob_WMDE we concluded that: We're not sure if the palette of jquery ui widget Wikibase widely uses has something similar. Should it had, it would be a way to go. There seems to be such widgets in OOUI. E.g. CapsuleMultiselectWidget (see https://doc.wikimedia.org/oojs-ui/master/demos/) looks to me like a good possible candidate. The purpose of this task is to verify if there is a widget that fits the needs of the parent task. I.e. it should provide needed adding/removing item to the list functionalities. Furthermore, it should be possible to plug item lookup into it somehow, as the intended If the conclusion of this investigation is that there is no existing widget we could use, we need to decide on alternatives. So before launching this feature, please document it and consider how you want to deploy it? I would advice to advertise users that they can opt-in for this feature in their Notifications preferences. Where deploy it is questioned on T142103. I've also think about some possible questions or feedback that may be raised up by the users. Some users would be very happy to have a preview of the Wikidata item title and description, for example by having them displayed in the dropdown. Possible? Some users would prefer to have this notification as a line in the watchlist. Possible? If so, when? TASK DESCRIPTIONSome of the constraint violation messages are hard to understand. This one is, in my opinion, particularly bad: This property's value entity must be in the relation to the item (or a subclass of the item) defined in the parameters. Example violation: Douglas Adams has religion: atheism, but atheism is not an instance of religion, which the religion property demands. All the important information you need to understand this message – that the relation is “instance of”, and that the class is ”religion” – is hidden in the parameters, which the user script doesn’t display at all! We should include this information in the message (hyperlinked), and also split up this particular message into two, one for “instance of” and one for “subclass of”. Suggestion: This property’s value (atheism) must be an instance of religion, Christian church, or religious denomination (or a subclass thereof). Perhaps the list of classes needs to be truncated if it’s very long, but most of the time I hope we should be able to include it fully. Jan also suggested including the property name in the message. Perhaps something like this? The value for religion (here: atheism) must be an instance of… An entirely different question is whether we want to assemble this message server-side or in the user script. The API already returns all the information required to assemble the message (constraint type and parameters), but currently the message is built on the server, which keeps the client very simple (it doesn’t have to retrieve labels or know about translations). The violation in P569 is because of this constraint on P569’s talk page: Difference with “date of birth (P569)” within range [30, 150]: the difference with property “date of birth (P569)” should be in the range from “30” to “150”. Read: a date of birth should be at least 30 years away from itself. In my opinion, that makes no sense, and I don’t know who added it… but the constraint is there, we imported it, and now the API reports violations for it on practically every human with a date of birth :/ However, the constraint on P570 is more sensible (within 0-150 years of date of birth), so I don’t know why that would report a violation. Did you get violations for P570 as well, or only for P569? If we include the parameters in the message, I would phrase that as: If “Q3971211” has the statement “part of” “Adriatic railway”, then “Adriatic railway” should also have the statement “has part” “Q3971211”. (I probably wouldn’t put quotes in the real message, that’s just to indicate what parts would be hyperlinked.) Perhaps the end of the statement could be “should also have the inverse statement…”? Or is that confusing?
