My understanding is that when someone makes an edit on wikidata, the edit goes into all the recentchanges tables based on if the page is used according to wbc_entity_usage. Due to lack of granuality in wbc_entity_usage, this has caused a spike in the size of the recentchanges table (For example, on romanian wiki, in a 1 week period 98.93% of entries in the recentchanges table were wikidata related (roughly 7000 normal edits vs 1 million wikidata edits). I believe this is overloading the watchlist functionality. I like the upper row, specifically the ? / ! part, which seems to reflect the distinction between non-mandatory constraints (“are you sure this is right?”) and mandatory constraints (“this can’t be right!”) very nicely. But coming back to this after a while, I’m not sure if it makes sense to view this as a series of three escalating icons. Perhaps there should be a greater distinction between any kind of constraint violation (warning, violation, whatever else – the first two cases, currently) and incorrect constraint parameters (currently third case), which are very different. Esc3300 added a comment. At Wikidata, I tried to change or add values statements with item datatype, e.g. enter the place of birth a person. The border around the entry field changes colors (depending on whether the value meets constraints or not, but then fails to allow me to save it. It's possible that it's just symptom of more general system issues. TASK DESCRIPTIONI’m not sure if the “conflicts with” and “item requires claim” constraint types should be checked on qualifier and reference snaks. I can imagine an interpretation where they operate on something like “sibling snaks”: the sibling snaks of a main snak are the main snaks of other (non-deprecated) statements; the sibling snaks of a qualifier snak are the other qualifier snaks of the same statement; the sibling snaks of a reference snak are the other snaks of the same reference. With this interpretation, you could e. g. say that “stated in” conflicts with “reference URL”, meaning that you can’t use them in the same reference (but you can of course use them in different references on the same statement). Does this make sense? Is it useful? TASK DESCRIPTIONSteps to reproduce: Open any random item with at least one entity-type statement, like this one. Edit an entity-type statement. Remove focus from the main snak entity selector, e. g. by clicking elsewhere in the document or adding a qualifier or reference. The main snak entity selector text field turns red (ui-entityselector-input-unrecognized class) as soon as it loses focus, even though I haven’t edited it at all and I’ll still be able to save the edited statement as soon as I make any other change (e. g. edit qualifiers or references).
