Moving the filtering to the mapping (which I'll find more flexible in the future) will require some custom mapper/analyzer.

Right. That's why I prefer to postpone it for now. It's not required for immediate use cases and we can always add it later.

But for me the most important now is to make clear that the elastic field we index is typed, e.g. do not add a new field like "wb_property", I'd prefer something like "wb_relationships".

Right now the field name is statements. I'm not sure whether we should add wb there (everything in that index is "wb", since it's on wikidata). I like Krinkle's idea the most (option #5) for now, mostly because it's probably the easiest, and seems relatively straightforward to move away from in the future.

Yeah, there's a more increased chance that someone will add something MW specific in a folder that's supposed to be a library. We occasionally have people introduce MW-specific code in core's includes/libs/ directory which is all supposed to be independent code, but it usually gets caught in CR. Theoretically there could be a CI test that looks for "mw." or something in directories to prevent it.

InjectRCRecords batches inserts when running the job, but doesn't chop the batch up before scheduling the job.

I happen to know why the error occurs because I saw a related patch: the label service optimizer adds a hint:Prior hint:runLast true. hint to the label service unless there’s another explicit hint (which also means that there’s a simple workaround if you know about it: add hint:Prior hint:runLast false. to the second label service). But for anyone else who isn’t that familiar with the internal implementation of the label service, this message is extremely confusing, because there’s no hint:runLast to be seen in the query (even if you can make the connection from “"run last" join” to hint:runLast).

It looks like change 258519 implements the first of Daniel’s suggestions (add wdtn: and then reuse psn:, pqn:, prn:). But as Stas already pointed out, that’s problematic because it mixes up predicates for simple values (ps:) and for full values (psv:). Previously, psn: was the normalized variant of psv: (containing normalized full quantity values), but now it’s also the normalized variant of ps: (containing normalized simple external identifier URIs). I’m not sure if this is still something that OWL hates (technically, they’re both IRIs), but it’s inconsistent and confusing.

To clarify – we would have something like this:

The quantity-type statement (P​2067, mass) has both a ps: triple for the simple value (5972.37 – the yottagrams are elided) and a psv: triple for the full value (5972.37 yottagrams), and the psn: triple is a normalized variant of the full value psv: triple, also pointing to a full value node. But the external-identifier-type statement (P​227, GND ID) only has a ps: triple for the simple value, and the psn: triple would be a normalized variant of that simple value ps: triple, also pointing to a simple value. That gives two different interpretations to the psn: prefix.

So the second suggestion is probably preferable: add four new predicates (direct, statement, qualifier, reference). We can use the URI suffix -resource or perhaps the shorter -uri, yielding the single-letter prefixes wdtu:, psu:, pqu:, and pru:. Then psn: would still always contain full value nodes and psu: would always contain simple values, and there would be two possible variations of ps: – psn: for normalized quantities and psu: for normalized external identifiers. (Perhaps we could generalize the meanings to “normalized full values” and “normalized simple values” later… though if we want to do that, we should reconsider the -resource or -uri URI suffix and prefix abbreviation.)

The result would be like the above snippet, except with psu:P227 instead of psn:P227. There would be no psn:P227 because external identifiers don’t have full value nodes. With the generalized interpretation of psu:, we could add psu:P2067 597237000.0 to the mass statement (simple normalized value), but I don’t think that’s necessary.

CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONNow Wikibase daily browser tests run using Source SauceLabs. And they randomly fail for reasons not related to the code but related to Souce SauceLabs API. See {T152963} for details.

As soon as randomly failing tests are worse than no tests at all, we (Wikidata team) would like to have another daily job running those tests but on Jenkins (without using Souce SauceLabs). Hopefully they will be stable.

PS: If they are stable we will probably like to kill Souce SauceLabs job, but not right now.

I like the idea to bind the elastic property to the type of the statement.
For now writing a mapping with default elastic tools allows to index nothing or everything, filtering must be done on the php side like you did in the current patch.
Moving the filtering to the mapping (which I'll find more flexible in the future) will require some custom mapper/analyzer.
I guess the question is do we care about filtering? Couldn't we just index all statements of a given type? I think this deserves some evaluation first, I'm not too keen indexing bazillions of terms while only 0.1% of them would be useful.
Maybe for now it's ok to start with filtering few properties on the php side, we can reconsider how we want to approach this problem a bit later.
