A wrapper would be straight-forward indeed, but another idea to consider could be to handle localisation at a higher layer that catches the exception, and responsible for printing it in some way. That approach might be easier to scale to other libraries we use, including those used indirectly by other libraries that we don't control. We'd basically map the exception class to a localisation message somewhere, quite similar to what we already do for various exception types in various places. That method is attached to the BeforePageDisplay hook, as far I can see:

So I think that the problem is that it should be hooked also to one other hook listed here: Manual:Hooks.

BPirkle added a comment. If we do care about localization, there's also the possibility of wrapping an external library in custom code that does support localization. Current http-* entries in en.json are fairly generic and could continue to be so. The external library would handle the details of the actual request, including the fallback from curl to php streams as necessary. In that model, MWHttpRequest and MultiHttpClient continue to exist, but much simplified compared to their current implementations. TASK DESCRIPTIONWikibase in many cases relies on the uer's UI language as defined by the RequestContext and $wgLang for output generation, via WikibaseRepo::getUserLanguage(). However, when generating ParserOutput, it also uses ParserOptions::getUserLangObject() - which may be different from the current user's language, particularly when rendering "canonical" output. In that case, the output will use one language for some parts of the output, and the other language for others, which cased T199983: Wikidata showing wrong language for page elements. The immediate solution for that issue was to disallow caching of such inconsistent output, and hope that it's never actually shown to the user. The correct solution would be to actually use the language passed to EntityParserOutputGeneratorFactory::getEntityParserOutputGenerator() for all output generation. TASK DESCRIPTIONRevisionStore::getQueryInfo currently triggers a deprecation warning when called with the "text" flag while SCHEMA_COMPAT_READ_OLD is not set. This was introduced to given an early warning about such code, before SCHEMA_COMPAT_WRITE_OLD gets removed (T183487). However, that means that we have to fix all such code (T198341) before we can make SCHEMA_COMPAT_READ_NEW the default on CI (T198561), because otherwise tests would fail due to the deprecation warning. This in turn would prevent us from making use of extra slots in product (T198308), which would block SDC deployment (T194750). Addshore added a comment. So as suspected this is down to a second db connections being opened during the tests that doesn't have access to the temporary tables created on the first db connection. I tracked this down to 'localAutoCommit' being used for the connection type with the following stack trace: F24467264: image.png The check in openConnection checks if a connection matching the connection key and index exists, when using a different connection key (of which there are a few) a connection will not be found at the index so a new connection is created. abian added a comment. The behavior of statements is to keep the "publish" link disabled until you specify a property and an acceptable value. Asterisks are used on Special:NewLexeme, but it's true that they don't appear on entity pages. So the first way could be more than enough and the most consistent one. In fact, this behavior could be extended (or introduced) later, when it's possible to determine what values are acceptable.
