TASK DESCRIPTIONThe temporal falsifiability is a quantitative value between 0 and 1 that reflects the usefulness of the contemporary constraint on a certain entity set, although it's an indicator of data quality by itself. It's defined as 1-(c/(n^2)), where c is the number of potentially contemporary pairs of entities (including reflexive pairs) in a set of n entities. Wikidata data shouldn't reduce their temporal falsifiability, something that would mean its average data quality is declining. The temporal falsifiability can raise when any of these good things happen:


More data are added to existing entities.
We improve the precision of dates.
We create entities that are more complete and accurate than average.
Temporal biases are reduced (i.e., we get more data about the past and not so many about the present).


The value of temporal falsifiability of people in Wikidata, which should ideally be >0.35, and will never be able to reach 0.55, can be estimated by following these steps:


Choose an n. For a very accurate estimation, this number can be the total number of instances of Q5; however, if using that n is too expensive, a lower n can be chosen.
Initialize c := 0.
Repeat n times:
Pick two instances of Q5 randomly (see T194884), e1 and e2.
If the date of birth (P569) of e1 can be lower than or equal to the date of death (P570) of e2 and the date of birth (P569) of e1 can be lower than or equal to the date of death (P570) of e1, then add 1 to c (c := c + 1); otherwise, do nothing. Here "can be" means that, in case there are several values, or values with low precision, it's enough to have a single possible combination that meets the rule. The rule is also met in case we don't have enough data; for instance, when checking if "the date of birth (P569) of e1 can be lower than or equal to the date of death (P570) of e2", this half of the rule is directly met if we don't have any date of death defined for e2.

Calculate (n-1)*(n-c)/(n^2) to get the value of temporal falsifiability.

Hm, I don’t think that’s something we need to deal with at the Wikibase level… I feel like this is something that’s best dealt with at the HTTP proxy level. Apart from the other repo’s IP address (that the request is coming from), the current instance doesn’t necessarily know anything about the other repo anyways, does it?

how to handle multiple Wikibase installations containing the same type of entities - e.g. Items or Properties?

Not in scope for this task, if I understand correctly (see also T209880#4778278).

To clarify: the way I currently envision this, API-based federation would use the current Wikibase APIs (mostly wbgetentities, I assume). Is that also what you have in mind, or do you want to create some dedicated API or use something else?

It’s probably enough to make all requests anonymously (I hope). (Authenticating the requests would make tracking easier, though.)

Query 25 federated instances on every keystroke that expects auto-complete?

Currently, we would only query one federated instance, because any entity type can only be provided by a single repository (the local one or a federated one). That will change in the future, but even then, I don’t think many installs will have more than two or three repos for the same entity type (local item, Wikidata item, perhaps something in between?).

I checked with @daniel that there servers are not being used for MCR reasons any more.

Could we please have a copy of the current wikidatawiki wb_terms table copied onto these servers?
Could we also please have a copy of the testwikidatawiki wb_terms table copied onto these server?

It is okay for this table to just be a snapshot, it doesnt need to be kept up to date.

  - The previous image directory can mostly be copied while updating various things.
  - the .travis/build-deploy.sh in the directory should be updated to tag the image correctly with the new tags
  - the .travis/build-deploy.sh for the image currently being built as "latest" should no longer tag that image as the latest (as it is no longer the latest)
  - the new image directory should be added to the main .travis.yml file https://github.com/wmde/wikibase-docker/blob/master/.travis.yml#L6
  - The image tag for mediawiki that is being used should be updated
  - The version of Wikibase that is being fetched should be updated
  - For the bundle image the versions of other extensions loaded should be updated.

in the mobile view the maximum width of the page body is limited to 993.3px - effectively preventing us from reaching the "3rd break point" (per design spec).

Currently we rely on using it's OAuth functionality to make edits. Unfortunately the setup process for the user is non-trivial and has some annoying "tricky bits" like faking having an email address for an account. The setup is described here: https://github.com/wmde/wikibase-docker/blob/master/quickstatements/README.md We've had reports from multiple people that they struggled, or missed steps from the guide etc... 

**Suggested Approach**
* Create a maintenance script for OAuth to generate a new consumer (see separate ticket T)
* Add running this script to the entrypoint of wikibase bundle image
* Write the credentials to a file
* Have this file jointly mounted in both the Wikibase-Bundle container and the QS container
* Adapt the QS entrypoint script to read the values from the file if it is present

**Acceptance Criteria**
Quickstatements OAuth should require no user interaction by the Admin user to setup. It should behave in the same way as a user visiting the wikidata.org version sees it behave (i.e. each end user still has to approve the consumer to make edits).
