  While not perfect, the Overpass user script does enable users to see which 
OpenStreetMap features are linked to the Wikidata item. (This is distinct from 
P625 , which is about coordinates 
rather than OSM features.) The original idea at the hackathon was to have this 
functionality incorporated into Wikidata as a gadget, so I’ll leave this issue 
open.

  We could significantly reduce the number of API calls by not having the 
script query overpass for certain classes of item (instances of human, taxon, 
academic paper, astronomical object, language, genome, chemical compound, etc.)
  
  If the map display could also not apper for those classes, so much the better.

  I think that would require a WDS query on every page load, which would spare 
one API by hammering another. 😉
  
  I considered but haven’t gotten around to making the gadget only show the 
overpass turbo embed on demand. That embed is what performs the query, so 
showing it only on demand would speed up page load quite a bit on some pages. 
The map is already usually below the fold, so I figure it wouldn’t be so 
annoying to have to click to see the map.

  This seems to be similar to T185165 
,  but for a different API action.
  
  Using `wbgetclaims` on the Wikimedia Commons API, I received this error 
message: "The required parameter \"$1\" was missing."
  
  Is this a bug? It seems like the `$1` should be displaying the correct 
missing parameter name to the user. In this case, it must be `entity` that was 
missing, as that is the only required parameter for this action. Not sure if 
this happens for other API actions or other sites.

  @Aklapper I thank you for your answer. As promised, I discussed with all 
users about the issue and I presented the outcomes of that discussion in 
Wikimania 2019 conference. You can find my presentation at

 The topic seems to be controversial. Middle Eastern users are struggling the 
idea despite all my attempts to convince them of the importance of this action. 
If all Arabic languages/dialects become recognized and supported, we will be 
able to enrich Wikidata with information about these languages. Please go 
through my Wikimania presentation and decide the best solution to the matter.
