  We chose S:BP for those queries on the assumption that, by its nature, it 
would be a cheap page to monitor.  Is there a better option we should be using, 
or is this ticket more about fixing inefficiencies in it?

  The main architecture of note here is 1) an already deployed MediaWiki 
extension that makes an API call to a service and 2) the service
  The Service can run anywhere, the idea of T285098 
 was to first deploy this to wmcs to 
prove the system is better than the existing system and then to go with a 
rollout in production and needing to allocate production resources for what is 
initially an A/B test.
  As we seemingly are not able to do this per the discussion in that ticket, 
this the target of this service will be deployment to wikimedia production.

  For the current Wikidata, indexing takes around 24 hours on a AMD Ryzen 9 
5900X with 128 GB of RAM and cheap HDDs. Our goal is an indexing time of at 
most 1 hour / 1 billion triples and we are not far from that. The latest 
version of Wikidata (including the lexeme data) has around 16B triples.
  
  The current index size is 750 GB, but this will soon be cut in half by some 
further compression. With efficient support only for queries where each 
predicates has a fixed value and is no variable (which is the case for most 
queries), the index size is 250 GB. Being super space-efficient was not among 
our high-priority goals so far, since space is relatively cheap.

  Implementation revealed a few additional questions around the design & 
interaction of the edit mode, for references and qualifiers.
  We've experimented with a few approaches, filled the gaps & landed on this:
  
  F34678804: references.m4v 
  
  TL;DR:
  
  - references & qualifiers will look the same (except that there can be 
multiple groups of references; qualifiers only 1)
  - they'll be grey "block" of snaks in edit mode
  - we're dropping the leading lines in edit mode
  
  LMK if there are unresolved issues with this implementation. Otherwise, this 
is what we'll move forward with.

  @Ladsgroup just removed entries for those two wikis from the 
wb_changes_subscriptions table, so the errors related to them should stop now.

  My estimates say that we should face no problems in our attempt to aggregate 
revisions across 6h, 24h, 2d and 3d on a virtual instance used for Wikidata 
Analytics in Cloud VPS.
  
  - I will deploy a full version of the update module today and let it run for 
a while, just to make sure everything is fine.
  - The test will continue on a test dashboard, and if everything is still fine,
  - I should be able to deploy in production w. Shiny Proxy until Monday.
  
  This system is a bit specific and that is why "live" tests like this one are 
necessary. Anyways, all should be fine. Reporting back as soon as I have 
something.

  Here is a relatively simple query without a highly selective triple. It asks 
for the 100 people with the most professions. It requires a JOIN of the first 
triple (around 9 million people) with the second triple (all people and their 
professions, around 8.5 million triples). And there is no easy around computing 
the full join result because we want the people with the most professions in 
the end and you cannot know in advance which people these are. The query 
deliberately does not have a large query result. So if it takes long, it's not 
because the output is so large.
