Deskana added a comment. The issue what to do about suppression of content is still unresolved. The issue is exceedingly rare; looking at the suppression log, there's only been two suppressions in the past year where content was removed from Wikidata items using suppressions. This is not surprising, given the nature of the data in Wikidata; there are few opportunities to enter free-form text which could contain suppressable material. Given the above, I'm concerned we're over-engineering a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist in any meaningful sense. Not moving ahead with the deployment because of a theroetical problem would be a disappointing outcome. I would like @SMalyshev and @ZhouZ's thoughts on this. It could continue to do so, for backwards compatibility. You could add support for, say, wbptterms=sanitisedescription, which provides a sanitised description. The biggest usecase of descriptions for 3rd parties is tagging and there you'd want the full descriptions. Right. I don't think any of us know that right now. Deskana added a comment. If you want this to be used by other consumer (mobile web, mobile apps, etc.), you really need to expose the banner image via an API. That way, each consumer can decide what they want to do with the information. Without getting into the ins and outs of the technical details, if the image is not exposed via an API separate from the main HTML of a page, the mobile app will either be totally unaware of the image or we'll be forced to strip the image for design/performance reasons, both of which will result in the app not using this at all.
