2020-07-10 Thread Evad37
Evad37 created this task.
Evad37 added projects: Timeless, Wikidata.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  The property values are breaking after each letter in a word, making the page
difficult to read/use on mobile. See screenshot.

  #1 is T156433: Geoline/geoshape does not work with relations other than
multipolygon/route/boundary <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T156433>.
  Not sure what's up with #2, that may be another bug.

  It would be nice if that could happen rather than the single red dot in the
center of a white screen. The templates/modules should be able to take care of
the rest (deciding when to set or not set coords in the tag attributes).

  Previously not specifying latitude/longitude/zoom used default values, which
in most cases weren't appropriate, but at least showed a map that could be
interacted with. In any case, the current behaviour is not desirable - either a
default zoom should be used if latitude and longitude are provided without a
specified zoom, or there should be an error message provide.

  While the module could be updated to use the new auto positioning feature,
this is definitely a bug in Kartographer per the following examples (which just
use tag directly, not the module):

  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Evad37/Sandbox/Mapframe_test

  For the big maps available after clicking the thumbnails, specifying a
latitude and longitude only works if a zoom is also specified, otherwise the
white background with the red dot is shown.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Updated] T188291: Display results of a SPARQL query on a map in Wikipedia

2018-06-07 Thread Evad37
Evad37 added a comment.
To clarify, what is wanted is a new external data service that takes in a query, looks up the P625 for each item from the query, and displays these as point features on a map
(in a similar way to how point features are displayed for geoJSON like { "type": "Point", "coordinates": [-150, 64] })

Basically, we should be able to use syntax like

{
  "type": "ExternalData",
  "service": "geopoint",
  "query": "
// query goes here
"}

to display point features based on wikidata coordinates, without having to know the wikidata ids in advance.

It would also be nice if there was a way to individually specify the Maki marker image, similar to how the geoshape example can specify fill colours for shapes.

Plus if there was also a way to just specify one or more wikidata ids without a query, then T178321 could be solved without having to use Lua.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T188291EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Evad37Cc: Evad37, Jonas, Yurik, Aklapper, Ayack, Lahi, Gq86, Darkminds3113, Looniverse, Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, EBjune, Orienteerix, merbst, LawExplorer, Avner, Ddproxy, Gehel, JGirault, phabyogi, FloNight, Xmlizer, GAllegre, Susannaanas, ferdbold, lxbarth, Zache, jkroll, Planemad, Smalyshev, Wikidata-bugs, Jdouglas, aude, Tobias1984, Manybubbles, MaxSem, Mbch331, Jay8g___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T143970: In Lua modules, there is no way to test for validity of Wikidata entity IDs

2016-08-25 Thread Evad37
Evad37 created this task.Evad37 added projects: Wikidata, MediaWiki-extensions-WikibaseClient, MediaWiki-extensions-Scribunto.Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper.
TASK DESCRIPTIONIn Lua, mw.wikibase.getEntity(id) will return a entity object if "id" is a valid Wikidata entity id, e.g. 'Q42'. However, if the id isn't valid (e.g. 'Q42000') it results in a big red Lua error message "The ID entered is unknown to the system. Please use a valid entity ID." This happens even if pcall() or xpcall() is used.

Actual results/demonstartion: See mw:Extension talk:Wikibase Client/Lua ยง testing for a valid QID ? (permalink to lua code in Module:Sandbox)

Expected results: One or more of the following:

mw.wikibase.getEntity(invalid_id) retuns nil
pcall() and/or xpcall() catch the error, and behave as one would expect
another function, perhaps named mw.wikibase.checkEntity(id), that returns true if the id is valid, or false if the id is invalid
some other way of determining validity without actually throwing an error
