[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T261850: compare model accuracy with and without property suggester
Halfak added a comment. It's not quite fair to compare the old an new feature sets. It does look like the property suggestor was having a minor positive effect, but that seems like it was not worth the additional API call. Everything that follows is just me nerding out about the stats. I think the statistics here are a bit off. Where is the STD statistic coming from? If you apply the Stderr of a proportion to the roc_auc `sqrt(p(1-p)/n)`, you get `sqrt(0.965*(1-0.965)/5000)` = 0.002599038283673 If you apply a proportion test to the difference noted in the final old/new feature comparison (which is unfair, but still interesting), you get an insignificant p-value of `0.24`. So not statistically significant. See https://www.infrrr.com/proportions/single-proportion-hypothesis-test-calculator I used 0.964 as the Null proportion and 0.975 as the sample proportion with n = 5000. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T257341: Add ORES article quality predictions to the WDQS
Halfak created this task. Halfak added projects: Scoring-platform-team, articlequality-modeling, Wikidata-Query-Service. Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper. Restricted Application added projects: Wikidata, artificial-intelligence. TASK DESCRIPTION From @SandraF_WMF > We have started (experimentally) tracking content progress of the Dutch (multilingual) WikiProject [https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikiproject/Wiki_goes_Caribbean Wiki goes Caribbean] via Wikidata. Can ORES article quality for supported Wikipedia languages be added to this process of assessment, and if so, what would be the best way to get there? > Topics related to the WikiProject are (manually) tracked via a Wikidata P5008 <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/P5008> statement (query: https://w.wiki/WJW ) > Do note: this set of topics is dynamic - Wikidata items can be added or removed as the project progresses > We've started (experimentally) tracking coverage of these topics on various relevant Wikipedias and on Commons, see [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c_RYfqwPGuRiO2MJ38iO5_Ibg6c2MzfasbjnrfBdY6A/edit#gid=0 this spreadsheet] which is used for measuring coverage progress over time on nlwiki, enwiki, papwiki, eswiki and Commons. > Question: can average ORES article quality for these topics on (at least) English Wikipedia, and later also Dutch Wikipedia, be included in measurements as well? > Would this produce 'meaningful' numbers/scores that are 'legible'/'interpretable' by laypeople (with some explanation if needed) and indeed indicate general quality development over time? > If so, are there already (non-coder friendly) tools with which relevant ORES article quality scores can be retrieved for a given set of Wikidata items / a Wikidata query / a set of Wikipedia articles? > If not, does it make sense to e.g. submit a feature request for tools like PetScan to provide ORES article quality scores as output? > All other tips and input very welcome. Halfak added a comment. @abian, ORES models directly a measure "completeness". However, it turns out that accuracy and consistency strongly correlate to these measures of "completeness" so it also a //good and useful// proxy measure of "consistency" and "accuracy". I'd like to know when and where that breaks down so that we can model that better but in the meantime, I think it is //good and useful// for measuring "quality" as a general concept. Consuming any measurements comes with caveats and I think this is a good one to highlight so thank you for raising it. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T225944: Explore using ShEx to support ORES in Wikidata
Halfak added a comment. My take-away is this: 1. There's no nice API that, given an item/edit, can tell us what constraints are violated. The current system processes the schemas in JavaScript. 2. There's no nice way to version the ShEx schemas. 3. It's still very early and people are trying to figure out what they want to make schemas for. 4. You can have multiple schemas that apply to the same item and roughly are trying to do the same thing built by different "WikiProjects" to manage different concerns. E.g. there is no master schema for "Human". a. There is a proposal to implement some mappings, but they are currently only focused on mapping using "Instance-of" and "Subclass-of" properties. So you wouldn't be able to map on, say, "Occupation". [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T199121: RFC: Spec for representing multiple content objects per revision (MCR) in XML dumps
Halfak added a comment. For clarity, I was originally advocating that we didn't combine any hashes and that instead we provided a tag in each of the slots. I now see that we're going to make a mess in favor of backwards compatibility. So there will continue to be a tag and at the top of the tree anyway. (Note that this now differs from the mwapi structure that is forcing everything into "content" and throwing loud warnings if you expect text to appear where it used to be). In that case, I'd like the structure of the mediawiki database to be reflected here. E.g. 's should reflect the rev_sha1 field. As for the sha1 of the main slot ('s ), I don't have a strong opinion. Attributes and tags require the same code complexity to deal with when processing the XML dumps. If you decide on a tag, I do think that "content-sha1" is needlessly ambiguous. It could be "text-sha1" to reflect the name of the tag or maybe "main-sha1" to reflect the concept of the "main slot".TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T199121EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: ArielGlenn, HalfakCc: mako, FaFlo, Halfak, vrandezo, Denny, kchapman, tstarling, awight, JAllemandou, hoo, pmiazga, Nemo_bis, brion, Tgr, Aklapper, Fjalapeno, ArielGlenn, daniel, Nandana, kostajh, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Lunewa, QZanden, LawExplorer, JJMC89, Agabi10, D3r1ck01, SBisson, gnosygnu, Wikidata-bugs, aude, GWicke, jayvdb, fbstj, santhosh, Jdforrester-WMF, Mbch331, Rxy, Jay8g, Ltrlg, bd808, Legoktm___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Halfak added a subscriber: FaFlo.Halfak added a comment. Seems to me that each slot should have it's own sha1. There's a huge amount of research of non-article content in Wikipedia. I imagine that analysts will be interested in identity reverts (the most common type that are detectable with sha1 histories) in main and any other slots. Having one sha1 represent some concatenation of all the slots isn't as useful as having a sha1 per slot. If I wanted to look for identity reverts across all slots, then I'd simply concatenate the sha1s myself during my analysis. As for where the sha1's exist in the XML, I'm not sure I have a strong opinion there. It's hard to work out what is being proposed from this enormous Phab task. But from the wiki page, I see tags in each "slot" and that makes sense to me. I'm not very worried about having the tag because there's already a substantial change to the content structure being proposed. This is maybe besides the point, but I have many issues with the claims of Flock et al's Revisiting Reverts paper which seems to be driving the research practice away from the use of checksums. In my expert opinion, checksum-based revert detection will be an important measurement strategy for a long future while fine-grained content persistence approaches like those developed by myself and Flock et al, will grow in parallel and not supersede the use of sha1s. I think that @FaFlo, @Denny, and I could have a lot more words about this so I'd encourage taking that off task if y'all are interested in discussing the future of revert detection generally. For the purposes of this task, I think we can agree on sha1s having lasting value for analytics and research broadly.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T199121EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: ArielGlenn, HalfakCc: FaFlo, Halfak, vrandezo, Denny, kchapman, tstarling, awight, JAllemandou, hoo, pmiazga, Nemo_bis, brion, Tgr, Aklapper, Fjalapeno, ArielGlenn, daniel, Nandana, kostajh, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Lunewa, QZanden, LawExplorer, JJMC89, Agabi10, D3r1ck01, SBisson, gnosygnu, Wikidata-bugs, aude, GWicke, jayvdb, fbstj, santhosh, Jdforrester-WMF, Mbch331, Rxy, Jay8g, Ltrlg, bd808, Legoktm___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Halfak added a subscriber: Hall1467.Halfak added a comment. @Hall1467 and I have been working on measuring how humans and bots drive the quality of Wikidata items differently. We're specifically looking at alignment between demand (views of articles that sitelinked from Wikidata) and production (edits to items). We don't have a draft yet, but it would be good to share an overview of our current results before anyone gets started on this so we can see if there's overlap. :)TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T194748EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: GoranSMilovanovic, HalfakCc: Hall1467, RazShuty, Lydia_Pintscher, Jan_Dittrich, Halfak, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Edited] T173119: Implement more nuanced patrolling relevant changes in Wikidata based on usage
Halfak updated the task description. (Show Details) CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONOnce we have (LINKME: more nuanced usage tracking), we should be able to use it to direct patrollers' efforts more effectively. E.g. we can make sure that only changes that affect the rendering of a page show up on a users' watchlist (T90436) and we can direct patrollers' attention to changes that affect the rendering of a lot of pages across client wikis (LINKMET173121). [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T173121: Rank wikidata changes for patrolling by usage
Halfak created this task.Halfak added projects: Wikidata, MediaWiki-Watchlist. TASK DESCRIPTIONPatrollers on client wikis will likely want to prioritize patrolling of changes to Wikidata entities that are most relevant to their client wiki (e.g. used a lot). Similarly, Wikidata patrollers will likely want to prioritize patrolling changes to Wikidata entities that affect many pages on many client wikis. We can use nuanced entity usage information to help prioritize these changes for patrollers.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173121EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: HalfakCc: hoo, eranroz, PokestarFan, Aklapper, Halfak, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Halfak created this task.Halfak added projects: MediaWiki-extensions-WikibaseClient, Wikidata. TASK DESCRIPTIONWe're already working on tracking statement usage within Lua tables (T151717). Let's extend that to all the other fun things you can find in a Wikidata entity. E.g. labels, descriptions, and sitelinks. We'll probably never really phase out the "X", but this task is about getting the obvious usage types covered. This task is done when: We stop recording an "X" in wbc_entity_usage for lua table access of labels, descriptions, and sitelinks.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173032EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: HalfakCc: hoo, Doc_James, PokestarFan, eranroz, Izno, Oliv0, Ltrlg, Scott_WUaS, Danmichaelo, CennoxX, Liuxinyu970226, aude, Lydia_Pintscher, daniel, Aklapper, Halfak, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, Wikidata-bugs, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
