Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. Note that this means there may be a specifically-relevant change to a watched page (if you're not watching the directly-linked page for the entity) that affects that page's rendering, but doesn't show on your Watchlist. This is probably already intended to be temporary, and I understand it's a necessary performance workaround, but I think this should be flagged to be updated later. Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. Perhaps this could be implemented by adding more rc_source possibilities (e.g. 'wb.description', 'wb.sitelinks'). However, this may have implications for T171027: "2062 Read timeout is reached" DBQueryError when trying to load specific users' watchlists (with +1000 articles) on several wikis. Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. In T171027#3628964, @Bawolff wrote: They're not fully redundant, since rc_type for Wikidata is RC_EXTERNAL (from core, thus not Wikidata-specific). Afaict only wikidata uses it. That's true (at least for WMF), but as long as it's RC_EXTERNAL in core (not even documented to be Wikidata-y), not (hypothetically) RC_WIKIBASE_TYPE in Wikibase, we can't rely on that. So AFAICT, it's best to move everything here to use rc_source. The IN would at best be a range condition (although im not sure mariadb would see it that way because it cant tell its a contiguous range). Usually the range has to be the rightmost part of the index we're using, so i dont think that would work, as the idea is to segregate the table by putting the wikidata stuff by putting that at the leftmost part of the index. (It could maybe do index merge or we could manually UNION, but it seems like mariadb doesnt usually choose that path, and im not sure thats really ideal given how many rows the query already has to look at). We could have a (rc_source) index (there is already (rc_timestamp)). Or perhaps both (rc_source) and (rc_source, rc_timestamp). I'm not sure if this is a workable approach (I guess it would require an index merge either way); it's just something to consider.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T171027EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: matej_suchanek, Ankry, Ladsgroup, Lsanabria, Josve05a, Bawolff, greg, Dominicbm, Vriullop, Jmabel, Fae, IKhitron, Johan, Herzi.Pinki, jmatazzoni, Trizek-WMF, Mattflaschen-WMF, KTC, Framawiki, zhuyifei1999, Marostegui, aaron, Andrei_Stroe, Turbojet, Rsocol, Strainu, Jwh, Pyb, Darwinius, Arbnos, Jdforrester-WMF, TheDJ, gerritbot, VladXe, Kf8, Liuxinyu970226, Jay8g, TerraCodes, Iniquity, jcrespo, Reedy, Catrope, Vicpeters, Demidenko, MaxBioHazard, Aklapper, Waytogoeducation, GoranSMilovanovic, Abiyoyo, QZanden, Vali.matei, Jack_who_built_the_house, Minhnv-2809, Poyekhali, Volker_E, Izno, Wong128hk, Luke081515, Wikidata-bugs, Base, aude, GWicke, El_Grafo, Gryllida, putnik, Steinsplitter, Mbch331, Krenair___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. Adding rc_type or rc_source (which one? these two fields seem largely redundant with each other) to the start of some indexes, so that queries that don't need to look at Wikidata rows can filter them out efficiently They're not fully redundant, since rc_type for Wikidata is RC_EXTERNAL (from core, thus not Wikidata-specific). @Catrope and I discussed, and think any new indexes for this purpose should have rc_source. We should also look into @Catrope's idea of using IN here (but rc_source IN). If this allows using the index effectively, we'd need to add a hook to know about all the rc_source's. Then PHP can convert "not Wikibase" to rc_source IN ('source1', 'source2', 'source3'). Related question, will having multiple such IN clauses (e.g. rc_source IN ('mw.log', 'mw.edit', 'flow') AND rc_source IN ('mw.log', 'mw.edit', 'mw.new' )) affect performance? The EXPLAIN is the same as if they are combined.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T171027EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: Ankry, Ladsgroup, Lsanabria, Josve05a, Bawolff, greg, Dominicbm, Vriullop, Jmabel, Fae, IKhitron, Johan, Herzi.Pinki, jmatazzoni, Trizek-WMF, Mattflaschen-WMF, KTC, Framawiki, zhuyifei1999, Marostegui, aaron, Andrei_Stroe, Turbojet, Rsocol, Strainu, Jwh, Pyb, Darwinius, Arbnos, Jdforrester-WMF, TheDJ, gerritbot, VladXe, Kf8, Liuxinyu970226, Jay8g, TerraCodes, Iniquity, jcrespo, Reedy, Catrope, Vicpeters, Demidenko, MaxBioHazard, Aklapper, Waytogoeducation, GoranSMilovanovic, Abiyoyo, QZanden, Vali.matei, Jack_who_built_the_house, Minhnv-2809, Poyekhali, Volker_E, Izno, Wong128hk, Luke081515, Wikidata-bugs, Base, aude, GWicke, El_Grafo, Gryllida, putnik, Steinsplitter, Mbch331, Krenair___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Updated] T172832: Investigate use-cases for delayed job executions
Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. There are three considerations relevant to Echo: Delayed notifications (T156808: Back-end infrastructure for timed notifications in Echo) 1a. Article reminder notifications (T2582: Remind me of this article in X days) 1b. User group expiry notifications (T153817: Notify users when their user group membership is about to expire, or has expired) "Batching & rate limiting for Echo notifications". There is a in-progress patch for T156808 (https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/370502/). This is being developed for T2582, but it's general infrastructure meant to work for all use cases, including T153817 (which I specifically considered). The current patch for T156808: Back-end infrastructure for timed notifications in Echo does not use Jobs in the sense of JobQueue (it has a maintenance script, and if this is merged, it will use OS cron). However, the patch for T153817: Notify users when their user group membership is about to expire, or has expired does use getReleaseTimestamp. However, I've asked them to build it on top of our infrastructure instead (I think they're waiting until it's merged). So that leaves #2. I think this is a reference to ProcessEchoEmailBatch. We currently use a OS cron job for that. If there's another use case you're thinking of, please let us know. (I also checked the existing Echo jobs, and they do not use getReleaseTimestamp/jobReleaseTimestamp)TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T172832EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Pchelolo, Mattflaschen-WMFCc: Mattflaschen-WMF, daniel, PokestarFan, hoo, Aklapper, Joe, elukey, Ottomata, Nuria, mobrovac, GWicke, Pchelolo, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, Izno, Eevans, JAllemandou, Hardikj, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331, Jay8g, jeremyb___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Mattflaschen-WMF created this task.Mattflaschen-WMF added a project: Wikidata.Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper. TASK DESCRIPTIONThe Wikidata Build on the Beta Cluster is older than on production. It should be newer, so code can be tested there before making it production. Currently: English Wikipedia Beta Cluster - 0.1 (bd064c8) 10:00, 19 June 2017 MediaWiki.org 0.1 (f27abea) 13:49, June 27, 2017 As a result (for example), the Beta Cluster still hides the Wikidata filter when you use enhanced (grouped) recent changes, but production does not.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T169598EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: Aklapper, Mattflaschen-WMF, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T169108: Wikidata items are always visible in Recent Changes, filtered or not
Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. We discussed this in detail as a team. For the specific issue, I suspect that a setup with "Show Wikidata" (and showing all types of of change) somehow ended up as your default saved filter. If you have no default saved filter, the new UI still respects these preferences. Those preferences are ignored (but still displayed in preferences) if you're using the beta feature and there is a default saved filter; I think this is the current situation. So I recommend: Configure RecentChanges as you want the default to be. To hide Wikidata, check all the boxes in that group you want to see (unchecking Wikidata). Save a filter. Go to Saved filters, ... next to the filter you just saved, Set as default. That URL ( https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sp%C3%A9cial:Modifications_r%C3%A9centes?urlversion=2&damaging=verylikelybad&hidepreviousrevisions=1 ) doesn't have any Type of change filters, so by default all types of change are shown. I think the suggestion here of using -1 if CentralAuth is not available (it can also be if particular edge case accounts are not linked for some reason) is better than 0 which I said at T162628: 'Wikidata edits' filter does not recognize registered wikidata users .TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T51315EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: Mattflaschen-WMF, MGChecker, Merl, Ricordisamoa, Aklapper, Liuxinyu970226, Wikidata-bugs, Legoktm, Denny, aude, MZMcBride, Lydia_Pintscher, Raymond, QZanden, Izno, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Mattflaschen-WMF added a comment. There are a couple issues with this that make it more complicated than I thought: The Wikidata revision ID is only in rc_params, so it's not joinable. It's also in wb_changes, but that doesn't have the rc_id or anything allowing joining to recentchanges AFAICT. The ORES tables are per-wiki, so we wouldn't be able to join recentchanges from this DB to the wikidatawiki ORES table. We could potentially solve 1 by one of: 1a. Putting the real Wikidata revision ID into rc_this_oldid. Not sure if this is a good idea. 1b. Adding rc_id to wb_changes. We could potentially solve 2 by one of: 2a. Fully centralizing the relevant ORES tables, with a 'wiki' column name. 2b. Mirroring just the Wikidata ones to the client wikis.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T158025EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: Catrope, jmatazzoni, Aklapper, Mattflaschen-WMF, QZanden, Avner, Iniquity, Izno, SBisson, Wikidata-bugs, aude, He7d3r, Ladsgroup, Mbch331, tarlocesilion, Legoktm___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

':' to get the new name, since that should always exist.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T128466EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mattflaschen-WMFCc: gerritbot, Smalyshev, JanZerebecki, Zppix, Mattflaschen-WMF, Jdlrobson, WickieTheViking, Llyrian, bd808, daniel, zeljkofilipin, aude, Aklapper, StudiesWorld, Physikerwelt, Lewizho99, Maathavan, D3r1ck01, Izno, Luke081515, mobrovac, Wikidata-bugs, Mbch331, jeremyb___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Mattflaschen added projects: Collaboration-Team-Interested, MediaWiki-extensions-ContentTranslation. Mattflaschen added a comment. Flow does not provide a general-purpose editor for editing normal wikitext pages. So it can't plug into the general-purpose MyEditor. However, it does support using either wikitext and VisualEditor for posting and editing comments. So if there were content-related documentation for Flow (here's how to suggest a reference on a talk page), the same concept could apply (different help pages for VE vs. wikitext). This is stored in a preference (based on the last time you modified a Flow editor area (so just previewing in VE doesn't count alone): This preference is 'flow-editor'. Mattflaschen added a comment. @Paladox Okay, I tried to figure out what you need to do. I think you need to update Wikibase composer.json <https://git.wikimedia.org/blob/mediawiki%2Fextensions%2FWikibase.git/REL1_25/composer.json#L36> on REL1_25 to a version with the expect fix . However, the complication is that the version with the fix (7925b64b7256902a2059273de76963d3bc3286a6) is quite different from the version currently there on REL1_25 (0.14.0). You could create a branch based on 0.14.0, then cherry-pick 7925b64b7256902a2059273de76963d3bc3286a6 on top, but that might get complicated. I will ask the Wikidata people whether the build bot runs on release branches like REL1_25 (it doesn't seem so), and about this bug.. If not, we may want to go with your approach of fixing it manually.
