[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T236611: Add a second button to the Query Service for "cool queries"

2019-10-27 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok created this task.
reosarevok added a project: Wikidata-Query-Service.
Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper.
Restricted Application added a project: Wikidata.

TASK DESCRIPTION
As per a discussion we had during WikidataCon:

  **What's the problem?**
The current Examples page / section for WQS does not serve beginners well.
It's, in fact, mostly a repository for cool queries of all sorts, many of them
way too difficult for beginners to understand.

Beginners to the WQS and SPARQL would mostly benefit instead from a set of
examples that slowly introduced new features in a well thought-out manner,
including a lot of comments about what the query does and how - what the query
is actually about isn't particularly important.

Attempts to do this with the Examples section have been met with resistance
though, because people do not want to lose all the neat queries they have added
to the current examples page (some people even seem to use this section as
basically a cross-computer "bookmark a query" option to quickly access them
from everywhere.

  **Proposed solution**
Rather than fighting the current users on this, we should meet them halfway.
We should add a new section by the Examples one on top of the WQS, named "Cool
Queries" or something to that effect (or possibly rename it to "Example
Queries" and add a new button "Beginner Examples"?) and move the current
queries there, so that both sets of help can coexist.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T212843: [EPIC] Access to Wikidata's lexicographical data from Wiktionaries and other WMF sites

2019-10-10 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok added a comment.

I would like to be able to access all forms matching a particular set of
grammatical features from Wiktionary, so that a template can be made for
example where a lexeme ID is given and a table will be returned with all the
forms as per Wiktionary info. For a very basic example, see the table on
https://no.wiktionary.org/wiki/tirsdag#Grammatikk

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T210225: Potential issues wrongly shown for allowed qualifiers constraint

2018-11-23 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok created this task.reosarevok added a project: Wikidata.Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper.
TASK DESCRIPTIONIn https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q959698 property P1248 gives "allowed qualifiers constraint: catalog is not a valid qualifier for KulturNav-id – the only valid qualifier is mapping relation type". https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1248 clearly states catalog *is* a valid qualifier (in fact, it's a mandatory one!). I imagine the code is only looking at the second, non-mandatory allowed qualifiers constraint on the property.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T210225EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: reosarevokCc: Aklapper, reosarevok, Nandana, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, _jensen, D3r1ck01, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T47224: [Story] Allow detailed summaries

2018-08-05 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok added a comment.
If my edit is simple enough that "5 to 7 default explanations" cover it, it's probably obvious enough it could be without a summary. I guess that might cover specifically "why I am removing this link", but I'd like to explain, for example, why I'm changing a label. That's something I can't do at all presently from the UI AFAICT - no reference fields (why? some labels can most definitely be referenced) and no way to explain why I think label X is better than label Y, so people just need to trust me.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47224EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: reosarevokCc: reosarevok, Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE, Zppix, YFdyh000, Nikki, Daniel_Mietchen, Lydia_Pintscher, Bene, jayvdb, Aklapper, Candalua, MGChecker, Liuxinyu970226, Wikidata-bugs, Abraham, jeblad, Addshore, aude, matej_suchanek, Ricordisamoa, Beta16, Allen4names, Danmichaelo, tabish.shaikh91, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Soteriaspace, Jayprakash12345, JakeTheDeveloper, QZanden, dachary, merbst, LawExplorer, Puik, D3r1ck01, Envlh, Tobias1984, Sjoerddebruin, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T173288: Dropdown for selecting languages for lexeme/form/sense

2018-05-23 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok added a comment.
Could the form one at least be preloaded with the language of the lexeme? It's to be expected, unless I'm misunderstanding the concept, that 99,9% of the forms will be in the same language of the lexeme (I guess some variation like en-gb and en-us can happen too though).TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173288EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: reosarevokCc: reosarevok, Aklapper, PokestarFan, Bugreporter, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Darkdadaah, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T195409: Load predetermined grammatical features depending on the language of the lexeme

2018-05-23 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok created this task.reosarevok added a project: Lexicographical data.Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper.Herald added a project: Wikidata.
TASK DESCRIPTIONWe know https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Lexeme:L502 is language: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q9072

We know https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q9072 has https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P2989 to all the relevant cases

As such, it would be great to offer the user the list of relevant cases to choose from in Grammatical features for a form. If a case is missing, it just needs to be added with P2989 (where it should be anyway).

Similarly, it might make sense to create a property for grammatical numbers that exist in a language and leverage that in Grammatical features.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T195409EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: reosarevokCc: reosarevok, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Darkdadaah, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T195406: Load item from Q without needing to press Enter in Grammatical features

2018-05-23 Thread reosarevok
reosarevok created this task.reosarevok added a project: Lexicographical data.Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper.Herald added a project: Wikidata.
TASK DESCRIPTIONCurrently, a user can paste a Q (or a Q URL) into the Grammatical features field, and then press Enter to load the item. This is not obvious at all (just pasting it doesn't suggest it's going to work in any way). It would be much clearer if the item was loaded when pasted, or at least (if it is, as I imagine, to avoid it being an issue if the user types the Q in) if it did the same as standard Wikidata does and loaded a one-result search.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T195406EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: reosarevokCc: reosarevok, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Darkdadaah, Mbch331___
