[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T288261: Determine if there are consistently used top ranked Wikidata statements, and how many of them are there
Lydia_Pintscher added a comment. Some background on ranks is here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:Ranking What we probably want here for the analysis is what we refer to as "best ranked statements". Best ranked statements are the statements with the highest rank in a statement group but not the ones that are deprecated. So if you have a statement group with a preferred and normal statement then the best ranked statement would be the one with the preferred rank. This "best ranked" concept is important for querying because it is what is used for the truthy queries and significantly reduces the size of the graph by removing statements that are historic for example. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T288261: Determine if there are consistently used top ranked Wikidata statements, and how many of them are there
MPhamWMF created this task. MPhamWMF added projects: Wikidata-Query-Service, Wikidata. TASK DESCRIPTION As a user, if there is catastrophic data loss in Wikidata, I want to keep the N top-ranked statements in order to maximize my ability to continue querying a reduced graph. - What is the distribution of top-ranked statements to least-ranked? - Is it easy/possible to separate top-ranked statements from least ranked? - If so, roughly how large is the set of top-ranked statements? - How disruptive would removing least-ranked statements be? This ticket is a part of WDQS disaster planning, and reflects research into mitigation strategies for catastrophic failure of Blazegraph: specifically in the case that the Wikidata graph becomes too big for Blazegraph to continue supporting. This is not a commitment to a long term state of WDQS or Wikidata, but part of the disaster mitigation playbook in a worst case scenario.
