2023-05-07 Thread Risker
It was always a pleasure to work with Deror, to hear him speak with such
passion for the Wikimedia community and its work, to just be in his
company. He will be missed by so many. May his memory be a blessing.

2023-05-07 Thread Bodhisattwa
I got a very short opportunity to work with Deror while in the virtual
Wikimania COT in 2021. His passion towards the movement coming from the
huge experience he had, was strongly felt in the team and I am sure that
will be dearly missed by his colleagues and friends for years to come.

I wish only, if we could have a more permanent way to commemorate our
unsung heroes when they are gone.

Related to the other thread about English I remembered this. It is good
that the WMF talks to English Wikipedia. Many of us just wish WMF
leadership would talk directly to the other wikis too.

2023-05-07 Thread John S.
I am still concerned that the WMF communications staff would send out this
without understanding that it would cause anuproar and how sad and upset
many are that they focus so much on English. I also think we Europeans in
this thread need to stop lecturing the Africans about how Africa works and
that the responses from the Africans in this thread have been very calm and
patient.
