[Wikimedia-l] Re: Reflections about Visa situation for Wikimedians

2022-08-16 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
Hello,

There is always a country that is accessible for some and difficult for
others, yet I experienced the same situation this year, and I was pushed to
make difficult decisions to cancel with continuous stress.

I add that some visas are issued with only one entry and a duration of only
one week, if someone plans to return to the same country or the same space,
he has to re-submit another one. and it is also another story and another
galley, which brings up all the fears and doubts every time
Even though the WM summit team has done a very good job and with new
improvements year after year. It is also difficult year after year to get a
Schengen visa.

I understand the problem between the budget allocated to transport and
accommodation in each country for any conference but only this constraint,
we lose more than we want to gain.

It is time to establish a list // a guide // a recommendation of a place
where the balance between all the constraints are realized.
Technology + Budget + Free movement + Security etc.

Best

2022-06-01 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
Hi Quim,

Thank you for this initiative, I would like to add feedbacks hoping that
they will be useful for the improvement of this site

*Primo *: The reactivity: it is very good. The updates of the pages are
very fast in the whole world and the navigation in the forum is very easy
and fluid.
*Secondo*: the visual identity is basic and correct. but we need time to
assimilate the different codifications but in general the idea of the forum
remains a smart solution.
*Tertio *: Hope to see translated
- Tile of the forum
- Tiles of topics or threads
- And why not multiple automatic translations of different messages. for
example :
Option 1: All threads in one unique language depending on our interface
language.
Option 2: Each message of the thread can be displayed in the language we
want to see and that we have selected in our personal configuration options.

Thanks

[Wikimedia-l] Algerian Wikimedians User Group Annual report for 2020-2021

2022-03-10 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
Dear Wikimedians,

The Annual Affiliates Report for Algerian Wikimedians User Group (*WikiDZ*),
covering the period from November 1, 2020, to November 1, 2021, is
available on Meta.

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Algeria/Gestion/Reports/Repport2021

Many highlights include:

During this year from November 2019 to November 2020, WikiDz was approved
his Charter and in the process of drafting its Internal regulations: a step
towards the final bylaws to fully consolidate the governance of the group.
As stated in the charter, with full accordance with local laws.

Many activities were successfully carried out and we are proud to be the
first with local expertise to have realized a totally online conference for
the Arab community with more than 70 presentation proposals for 3 days.

To have offered an artistic work for the promotion of Knowledge which is a
song on Wikipedia that has collected almost 10 views.

We've a very rich region that leads us as a group to collaborate with
several entities in the Arab world - the African and European region is to
remain the most stable group in the region that helps other groups to
emerge.

Our totally autonomous education program that continues to train to
discover Wikipedia in Algerian universities.

The pandemic has brought out all our energy and this is the best year for
WikiDZ.

The activities we didn't achieve will in most cases have to be postponed to
the next year if they are of value, especially the internal rules and the
creation of the association at the local level.

We would like to thank the WMF for its support and its indefectible trust
in our activities. Without it, many events could not have been held.

You can read all the details below and you can tell us more about your
remarks for continuous improvement.

Bests regards

2021-04-07 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
I would like to thank all those who have participated in the long process
of building this group, which...through this recognition we hope to promote
the birth of the world wiki movement.
This region of the world needed a group of this type to better serve the
expectations of the community in the field of collaboration and expansion
assistance etc., which itself is part of the global wikimedia movement.

I would like to greet all those who have believed in us from near or far
and hope for more collaboration with all of you because this group is open
to all of you because we need your help and support to better serve you and
the universal knowledge.

and thank you to WMF for their trust.

the WikiDZ Algeria group,

WikiDZ <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Algeria>is a local user
group officially recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation.

This year will remain in the collective memory of all humanity, where we
felt united, a feeling that we already feel within the great wikimedia
community.

In spite of this, the group continued its activities even more strongly:

We reached largely our objectives
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Algeria/Gestion/plan/Plan2020>that
we set last year.

By improving the governance structure of the group by establishing a charter
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Algeria/Charte>for the group.
By organization of local and international competitions
By cultural exchange between the Maghreb and the East using two languages :
French for Algeria and English for the Levant.

Salut,

.
Participation aux discussions internationales de Wikimedia.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Movement Strategy: Feedback requested on draft outline of Transition events

2020-08-06 Thread Mohammed Bachounda

<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2018-20/Transition/People>
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2018-20/Recommendations>
.

<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2018-20/Transition/Updates>

<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2018-20/Transition/Events_Outline/Draft/fr>
.

<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2018-20/Transition/Events_Outline/Draft>

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Upcoming Wikimedia Clinic calls and program updates

2020-08-03 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
Thank you Asaf for this initiative, personally I like clinics.
I have seen the other proposals, there is a big problem that they are
already used so there is a big risk of confusion, another proposal is to
give visibility to this meeting.
a nice little logo would be nice.
Another question is that if for example we wanted to use the Jitsi app
platform on meet.wmcloud.org how would we do it?

thanks again

Although cross grants are welcome; it helps so much to go as fast in the
implementation of the projects

Our Algerian UG in advance with the help of several Algerian organizations,
of course if WF supports our projects with strength

Re: [Wikimedia-l] [Wikilovesearth] Wiki Loves Earth - Statistics tool

hello Rodrigo

thank you for this great job

bachounda

2015-05-13 14:01 GMT+01:00 Rodrigo Padula rodrigopad...@gmail.com:

 Hello my friends,

Yesterday we have updated the tool developed by our team for the WIki
 Loves Earth 2014.

So, from now you can see the numbers and statistics of the WLE 2015
 through the link https://tools.wmflabs.org/ptwikis/WLE2015

In general, the numbers are increasing very well based on the current
 average.

The WLE Brasil 2015 is going very well too, with the new users engagement
near 96% of the total of participants(bringing 554 new users to Commons)
 and more than 3.000 photos.

 Contributions and suggestions are welcome.

 Best regards

[Wikimedia-l] Evaluation by WMF of Wiki Loves Monuments is failing to understand the community

2015-05-07 Thread Mohammed Bachounda
I organized a contest Wiki Loves Monuments wiki and loves earth in algeria
and coordinate on the rest of each arabic country who has organised the
contest

I had a lot of fun to organize during 2013 2014 till 2015 now

In algeria ;with astonishment ;many do not know what that meant wikipedia;
those who knew wikipedia ;they were discovered commons and more
he was able to me; to establish relationships that are allowed me to create
WMUG Algeriait; is a great chalenge for me

all these offline activities help to enhance the experience and conaissance
of wikimedia projects

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia of knowledge; and yet it is a great unknown

Wiki loves what is good; May it must be renewed

I suggest only one thing:

a single contest each year with a commission that reflects, and proposes
the theme of the year

it is more focus; if the Commission believes that this year we need to
photograph flowers or rare plants or animals in commons then this will be
the case

International Commitee or Commission or the way you want and the weak link
was missing the comunity

wikimedia must help to the elaboration of this infrastructure without
influencing it
