Dear all,

WikiVibrance, the Africa Knowledge Initiative (AKI) Implementing Partner
for Africa Youth Day

2022 campaign is happy to announce a call for applications for local
organisers for the Africa Youth Day 2022 campaign.

The local organisers will be responsible for organizing local campaign
activities for Africa Youth Day – November 1st, 2022.

Interested communities, or affiliates (user groups/chapters) are welcome to
submit applications via this application form
.

Minimum Requirements

   -

   Must be a community, usergroup or affiliate;
   -

   Previous organizer of the WikiVibrance African Youth Month,
   International Youth Day or related campaign;
   -

   Situated or connected to any of the regions of Africa;
   -

   Community constitutes of good number of young people;
   -

   Experience on youth engagement and capacity building;
   -

   Have a community of about or capable of mobilizing and engaging not less
   than 150+ people (based on the number anticipated to be reached on the
   project).

NB: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted

Application deadline is 20th October 2022.

WikiVibrance  is
planning to organize a Wikimedia Youth Conference in 2023 in Alicante,
Spain.[1]

We are conducting an engagement survey to understand how we can design
relevant programs for in-person participation. The survey output will help
in knowing more about the needs of the youth in the movement and those
interested in youth development.

This is one of the key things we want to use this conference to explore to
better understand what is or will be the ideal youth age definition in the
movement. We feel that it is only appropriate to put on the meta page, an
age definition that is representative of the voices of young people in the
movement. But for the purpose of the conference participation, we will be
using 18-35 years. However, we are also open to ideas around this if you
think any different.

feel free to encourage young wikimedians 12-18 to participate in
WikiVibrance activities where they can. We have seen how the youth age
definition varies across regions outside the movement. It's also important
to get their thoughts in some of the youth issues they consider relevant to
them. One of the things we hope to take away from this conference is to
gather the thoughts of young people on the age definition of youth in the
movement and how we can better engage them among other things. We are also
going to get Wikimedians involved in the planning of the conference to
support in the process including decision making on the conference
participation and more.
