I must appreciate Shiva prakash for making time for this, despite a woking day and delivering Kannada Wikipedia demo. Regarding Key layouts, if you are meaning support at the OS level, it is easy in Linux as all these are supported ibus with m17n. For the Windows platform that is more common, Inscript has been setup on the machines in the lab. As practising with transliteration is easier to start, we focussed on that. We should cover other keyboard methods in future events Nope, I'm talking about different transliteration layout's support embedded into wikipedia editor. See the Narayam extensionhttp://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikimediaindia-l/2011-September/004426.htmlintegrated to Tamil, Malayalam, Sanskrit Wikipedias. Also Bengali, Hindi, and Marathi wikipedias use a similar tool developed by Junaid. This looks good and should take care of many concerns. But to integrate additional typing schemes to Kannada wikipedia, support from few Kannada wikipedians is required. We need to test the typing schemes before it is integrated to wikipedia. Shouldn't be an issue to test out. I can ask few of our friends to join hands. Please let me know in case any support is required regarding this. Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] social media to use
Hi, Respect your views on using open platforms. At the same time, I feel strongly we need to use platforms where there users and specially indian users. One small correction, we have not created any Twitter account. We are tracking and encouraging users to use #wci11 as the hashtag for conversations on WikiConference 2011.
