2014-10-14 Thread praveenp
Hi Anivar,

I wish to know about the procedure of the selection of Election
committee and Returning officer. I know you've membership in all the
available mailing lists, you used to keep "Activist" phrase in all
your email signatures, and I know that you are a great propaganda
pusher (Mostly your personal propagandas :-)). But I wish to know
your actual contributions to these projects or community.

I believe that a person who acting as a returning officer must be
truthful atleast to himselft. Last time I saw you in Malayalam
Wikipedia to teach us that Wikimedians must 'suffer' ULS in developer
insisted form because what Wikipedia is technocracy not democracy.
Here you are acting as a returning officer. That bit is too hard for
me to understand.

I know that there are manyy allegations against you including recent
one from a female fellow feminism activist. Personally I didn't see
any explanation from you anywhere even-though there is a vast
discussion in facebook and other social medias about this issue. I
don't knnow that whether you sexually offended anybody anywhere. But I
believe that you cannot pop up somewhere else without explaining
yourself anywhere after such a big accusation. OR may be I am missing
explanation from your side.

I know nothiing about others though.

I think praveen is referring my efforts to interface between the FOSS
developer way of decision making and Wikimedia community way. This post
summarizes it
http://www.quora.com/Why-was-ULS-forced-on-reluctant-language-wikipedias-without-any-community-consensus

various community issues around technology decision making such as ULS is
also part of discussions in India Community Consultation as well .

But personalizing issues and building and spreading personal animosity
around technology opinions is a nonconstructive attitude of this identity
for long . So I am not engaging with him further on this off-topic
conversation .

I hope moderators will take a note on this

Happy to see that you have such a flexible vision :-) Hating consensus
while being a returning official of a poll is such a great ability!

I want this community and its process clear and correct. I cannot
agree someone with bad reputation represent community and its
decisions. Whenever I am asking somethin to you, I hope you would
reply a proper answer so that users can believe you. Unfortunately
never happened.

2014-10-16 Thread praveenp
Dear fellow Wikimedians and Chapter Members,

This is a bad situation. Anivar Aravind is not ready to answer any
questions or concern about him. Everytime somebody ask him some
explanations, he either attack user(s) who try to get some
clarifications claiming that they have some agendas or ducking back
and hiding for sometime.

Personally I even don't and and I am not interested know him outside
these mailing list. As you can see, always he select words to feel
like there is a long time 'real life rivalry' as an escape tactics. I
only want to know truth and reasons.

But various accusations against him and his attitude to community
seriously trouble me also. Generally he came to ml.wp village pump to
teach us pretending somekind of 'techno-upper-cast' that we were
wrong (eg: Unicode normalization decision and ULS deployment) but
fortunately there is always enough people with better knowledge.

I believe it is better to ban people like him from representing
Wikimedia India and Indian Wikimedians community at least untill there
is some answers.

Regards,
Praveen P

I am really sorry, but I really had to disrupt such an "announcement"
because Sri Anivar uses every such announcement as an opportunity to

gets titles like returning officer without any real activity or

Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] WMIN Executive committee elections 2014 announcement

2014-10-20 Thread വിശ്വപ്രഭ
Dear Praveenp,

With all due respects to you as one of the most contributing and persistent
Wikipedian (I must say probably the staunchest of the backbones of
Malayalam Wikipedia), I must now respond here as a member of the WMIN
Executive Committee, a colleague at ml.wikipedia as well as a good friend
of both of you..

Despite whatever personal issues between you and Anivar, I can vouch that
Anivar too have been contributing to the Wikimedia causes in his own ways
for some time now. You may not see it through the number of edits or such
statistics, but his timely involvement in many events and projects have
also helped Malayalam Wikisource to stand where it is now. Apart from that,
he has been taking an active and serious interest in the Chapter's mission.

Anivar, Pavithra and DB Srinivasa Rao were selected as the Election
Committee (EleCom) via a very proper protocol by the Executive Committee. *It
was the EC who solicited their help and willingness to be members of the
Election Committee at a time when few were even willing to be members of
the chapter.* Their selection as Election Committee was done even much
before the new (restructured) EC came into form. The then EC had
unanimously passed the resolution to appoint the EleCom without any
conflicts among themselves.

As far as the Wikimedia India Chapter is concerned, our interest in
people's individual issues and relations are clearly limited to the
Chapter's affairs. As I see it, being a member of the EleCom has nothing
much to do with how one may be active or inactive in a rather unrelated
domain, as long as one delivers the performance assumed and expected of his
capacity in the right degree.

I sincerely believe that the history of piques between you and Anivar has
nothing to do with the conducting of WMIN elections in a free and fair
manner. The Chapter would rather concentrate on much more pressing tasks
for which our resources are still running bit of a short as of now.

It is embarrassing to have to respond to such messages (that should be of
interest in scope, to only the Chapter circles), at this honorable list,
being primarily an open mail list for Indian Wikimedia projects. In the
first place, that the announcement is also copied on to this list was
purely with an intention to make as many Chapter members as possible.to be
aware of the upcoming elections. Beyond that, anyone is welcome to ponder
upon further affairs at the chapter's wiki itself, with a record and
history.

I also take this opportunity to urge Praveen and others to take a more
long-standing interest in the chapter, be an active member there and get
more involved from within, so that we can have even better qualified people
to select from. It really makes a difference when you are inside the system.

May I take that this discussion is now concluded with this message.

:-)

With love to all and malice towards none,
Viswam
