Are some of them 'expired crown copyright', given that the first listing
descriptions were presumably written over 50 years ago?

Or am I missing something?

Funny you should ask that now, I've only today received a reply to a
request i submitted in September 2012 - 16 months ago. I've blogged

 Could the scope of the request be widened? The Royal Commission on the
 Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland run Canmore which has
 descriptions of sites which would be useful for Wikipedia (eg).

You could add a comment to my request; or make a new one. I think the
later would be more effective. Please let me know if you do that, and
