[Wikimediauk-l] Feedback invited on Wikimedia UK's draft strategy for the next three years

2021-12-01 Thread Lucy Crompton-Reid
Dear all

Thank you to everyone who attended our community meeting in November to
discuss Wikimedia UK's strategy for 2022 - 2025. My blog post about the
meeting, summarising the input from participants, is here

.

Wikimedia UK's *draft strategic framework for 2022 - 2025
*
is
now open for comments until 8th December.

Do feel free to either add comments or questions directly to the document,
or to add your feedback on wiki
.

Please note that this draft is being shared with the community at the same
time as the staff and board of the Chapter. Nothing is written in stone and
your comments will be taken on board; although I am unlikely to be able to
incorporate all feedback into the final draft. Please also note that this
currently just includes the headline aims for the three strategic themes
which have been identified. It doesn't include the work that we will be
prioritising under our five strategic pillars (including volunteer and
community engagement). Annual objectives and specific activities/outputs
for these pillars will be identified through our more detailed annual
delivery planning.

I would be particularly keen to hear your thoughts on the following:

1. What's missing from the draft strategy from your perspective?

2. To what extent do you agree with the three proposed strategic themes:

   -

   Knowledge Equity
   -

   Information Literacy
   -

   Climate Crisis

3. To what extent do you agree with the five strategic pillars:

   - Equity, diversity and inclusion embedded across the organisation
   - A thriving national and international community
   - Public profile and recognition of the organisation and Wikimedia
   projects
   - A positive legislative environment
   - Organisational resilience and sustainability

With many thanks in advance for your feedback and input.

Lucy

[Wikimediauk-l] Fwd: Identifying the Challenges of Collaborative Wikipedia Training and Editing

2021-12-01 Thread Sara Thomas
Afternoon all; sending this on - research project taking place at the
University of St Andrews, looking for participants:

Best,
Sara

Are you a Wikipedia Trainer, or have you been an active editor
(approximately 5+ edits per month) for the last year or more?

In collaboration with The IDEA Network at the University of St Andrews and
Wikimedia UK, you are invited to participate in an online discussion group
to help us better understand how to support collaborative Wikipedia editing
and to better accommodate Wikipedia newcomers’ different learning
strategies and levels of expertise.

We invite you to discuss your experience with a group of Wikipedia trainers
and active editors (18+). Our session on Friday 17th December, 2-4 pm GMT
will explore the social and technical components of online Wikipedia
training to identify challenges faced by newcomers.

The event will take place online using Microsoft Teams. Your participation
in this 1-2 hours session is voluntary. You will be compensated with £15
worth of gift voucher for the session as a thank-you for your time. There
is also the option to donate the voucher to a charity of your choice.

This is part of a PhD research project. The link below has the Participant
Information Sheet, which contains additional information about the
discussion groups and what type of data we are going to collect during
these sessions.
