Hi,

That's great ! We need more tools like that.

Not sure if it's a good idea but maybe you could use the Sister project
links template too (but maybe there will be too many false-positive...).

[Wikisource-l] Template Wikipedia

2015-11-24 Thread Tobias Schönberg
Hi all!

As is typical for smaller communities, connecting all the pages to Wikidata
items can be a major undertaking. Luckily many users have already used
Template:Wikipdia (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q15632185) to connect
Wikisource pages to Wikipedia pages. Because Wikipedia pages are already
connected quite well to Wikidata, it is easy to find the common item.

I ran a bot on ar-wikisource and found ~400 inclusions of the template. The
bot set ~170 sitelinks. The rest of the pages either already had a sitelink
or the corresponding Wikipedia page did not have a Wikidata-item yet.

Having also checked around 30 items by hand I couldn't find any mistakes,
which shows that the template is well curated. If anyone would like me to
run the bot on another language of Wikisource or share the code just send
me a message.

[Wikisource-l] Thank you again to all for the Wikisource Conference

2015-11-24 Thread Mathieu Stumpf Guntz

Hello,

I just wanted to thank everybody which participated at the event, and
especially the team which managed it. Also a special credit to WMfr
which granted scholarships to me and several other people I was please
to meet.

I learned a lot during this week and was really happy with the outcome.
Being able to have face to face discussions with some of you was really
great. Your enthusiasm and
kindness is a major source of motivation and inspiration. I hope that
each attendee will have a troubleless return trip, and for those who
stayed some extra days, that they thoroughly enjoy their time in Vienna
and surroundings. I was personally totally impressed by the architecture!

Also it was such a pleasure to be able to dance with Asaf. :P

Kind regards,
mathieu

2015-11-24 Thread Ankry
In many cases this relation may be not of 1-1 type.
Unless you connect disambig pages to Wikipedia in case of text variants.
Or if you have no text with variants in your wiki...

[Wikisource-l] Scribe

2015-11-24 Thread Andrea Zanni
This seems pretty interesting...
http://www.nypl.org/blog/2015/11/23/scribe-framework-community-transcription

A new transcription framework, from a collaboration between New York Public
Library and Zooniverse (!!).

Quite confusing that they use the same name as Internet Archive's
scanners.

Almost every crowdsourced transcription tool uses a variation on the name
"Scribe": See the list at http://tinyurl.com/TranscriptionToolGDoc for a
sampling, as well as Transkribus, Transcriptorium, etc.
