Re: [Wikitech-l] "basic" usergroup

(re-sending, apparently mailman didn't like my previous emails)
Looks like it was this: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/213314
This appears to be an accident. During a migration of configuration code to
a new system, a 'basic' 'GrantPermissions' line was put into the new file
under 'GroupPermissions' instead.

setMwApi is the newer name for that function
and should be fine.

Can you first confirm that your Mediawiki action API
is returning the right thing? It should look something
like https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php

Possibly related from early 2016: .

Cross-referencing the on-wiki discussion:

Then new questions arise. What suddenly(?) changed to expose this user
group? And why isn't the "highvolume" user group similarly exposed?

2016-07-28 Thread Brian M
Hi Wikitech-l,

Some people asking around about a new group that appears to have been
globally rolled out to WMF wiki's; default name "basic" with only
permission "torunblocked" - can anyone point me to this change?

Thanks

[Wikitech-l] T47317: Sections generated by tag extension do not show up in TOC

2016-07-28 Thread Lord_Farin
All,

I would like to draw your attention to ticket
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47317.
This ticket highlights some issues with the way sections, headers and the
TOC are handled in the parser in combination with tag extensions and parser
functions.

Basically the problem is that the TOC is created before strip markers are
substituted, which prevents some sections from showing up in the TOC.

This issue is limiting the usefulness of such constructs, so I am very
interested to spend some time on it with people well-versed in the parser
code and in particular the formatHeadings function.

Of course, there are plenty more details I could give but before flooding
wikitech-l with those I thought I'd poll for the interest in addressing
this. Maybe the next step could be some chat over IRC or another medium?

Thanks in advance,
Lord_Farin
