TTYDRV woes :/

2003-06-17 Thread Kye Lewis
Heyas,

Firstly, (for those of you who really care - or who even have a clue who
I am.)... I'm back again, and ready for some wine action :)

Anyway I'm having a bit of a problem with *running* wine stuff -
more specifically TTYDRV...

I'm getting lots of messages like
fixme:ttydrv:TTYDRV_CreateWindow (10045): stub
(obviously with different actual functions blah blah...)

And I have no idea...

And yes, before you ask, I am running this in X :) - I've tried CVS,
i've tried compiling from a tar.gz, i've tried RPM's, and all seem to
produce the same result.

I'm using the latest nVidia drivers (from www.nvidia.com) if that would
make any difference.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,
Kye Lewis

Hmmm, I meant to send this two days ago...

I have made tons of fixes to the kernel/path test and it should now work
much better. I just uploaded the new version of the tests compiled from
my sources. One can download them from the usual URL:

http://fgouget.free.fr/wine/winetests.zip

[...]
process: 116 tests executed, 0 marked as todo, 4 failures.

Exactly the same except I have 10 messages interspersed with these,
saying:
tests/process.c: 1 tests executed, 0 marked as todo, 0 failures.
 Why these extra messages?

Because this executable invokes itself to test CreateProcess. And each
time it exits it prints statistics about how many tests passed and
failed, although the child processes are not actually performing any
test. So these messages can be ignored.

 h:\wine\wine\dlls\shlwapi\tests\shreg.c:218: Test failed: (6)
 h:\wine\wine\dlls\shlwapi\tests\shreg.c:219: Test failed: (6,43)
 h:\wine\wine\dlls\shlwapi\tests\shreg.c:220: Test failed:

[...]
Same but I get 0 for all your 3435973836 which is 0x. Must be
a
debug/release build thing - variable not being initialized.

Should not be the case. The code does:
dwType = -1;
dwRet = SHQueryValueExA( hKey, Test3, NULL, dwType, NULL,
dwSize);
ok( dwType == REG_SZ, (%lu) , dwType);

So we should either get -1 or something that makes sense, not
0x. This needs to be investigated more.

Should we print out some of these results in hex as well to make life
 easier?

We should print them in just one format, decimal or hex, whichever makes
more sense.

I will now be concentrating on working out what is wrong with these
 tests :)

Yep, I think this is priority number one now. Running the tests on more
platforms would only return pretty much the same list of bugs again and
again.

advapi32_test registry 3 errors vs 31 errors

2002-12-11 Thread Kye Lewis
Hi,

Just ran the conformance tests on my laptop:

The first time I went through I got 3 errors, the second time I got 31
So I get the feeling that one of the tests (maybe even that one) is
doing something weird.
I’m on a quest now to find out which one (if any!)

Thanks,

Looks like it's:

shlwapi_test.exe shreg

that has a problem.

Any easy way of narrowing down even further (ie. Running the individual
tests separately?)

WinXP Test Oddities (Changed Test Results!!)

2002-12-10 Thread Kye Lewis
Hi,

I ran the advapi32_test registry again today, and only received 3
errors:

h:\wine\wine\dlls\advapi32\tests\registry.c:96: Test failed: value set
to 'xx' instead of 'Te'
h:\wine\wine\dlls\advapi32\tests\registry.c:97: Test failed: data set to
'xxx' instead of 'foobar'
h:\wine\wine\dlls\advapi32\tests\registry.c:111: Test failed: data set
to 'xxx' instead of 'foobar'

This seems very strange to me. I ran the test at first because I thought
it might have been a matter of long file names, but then when I moved it
back I found it wasn’t, there was just something weird happening
instead.

I’ll try to reproduce the other errors tonight if I can, and if I am
successful I will post the results to the wine-devel group.

David Miller, you also received 31 errors for this test, yes? Could you
test again straight after a computer reboot?

Thanks,
Kye Lewis

It is here that I notice a large discrepancy between this test and my

set to 24 instead of 7
h:\wine\wine\dlls\advapi32\tests\registry.c:81: Test failed: type 2 is

I guess that means the test makes assumptions that are not valid. It
would be interesting to find out what the differences are between your
bo and Alberto's: Home Edition vs. Profesional, internationaliztion
issues, etc.
Could it be that the test did not cleanup after itself and failed on the
subsequent runs?

Do we have a volunteer for untangling this?

WinXP advapi32_test

2002-12-09 Thread Kye Lewis
Hi,

It would seem to be that all advapi32_test is trying to do is overflow,
and see if wine (or in this case windows) responds correctly. As far as
I can see, there is currently no way that that test could *ever* work
properly. Maybe I have an old version of this file? (Or maybe I'm
missing something completely obvious)

In the version of dlls/advapi32/tests/registry.c that I have, it puts
xx into both value and data, and in *most* cases, expects
either Test or foobar (or a truncated version depending on the other
values) to be returned.

How can Test OR foobar ever be returned from xx?
It always seems to fail because of this. It expects a truncated word
(because it's been overflowed) which is fair enough, but it expects Te
for example, and gets xx instead, and this is why it seems to be
failing these tests.

Thanks,
Kye Lewis

Command-line MS FTP clients don't support passive mode and I have heard

The command LPRT is used for ipv6 over FTP, but I don't know any FTP
servers that allow this command, maybe oftpd.

RE: games

2002-11-03 Thread Kye Lewis
Surely there is no reason that wine actually has to do these checks
anyway - would it not be simply possible to say that the checks passed
regardless?

And even if we do decide to implement them, (I don't know the legal
position on this - I'm not a lawyer or anything), I don't see why
implementing copy protection code should be any different than the rest
of the wine code - as long as we make it up ourselves, it should be
legal (again, I'm not sure about this)

Earthviewer 3D Setup

2002-11-01 Thread Kye Lewis
Hi,

When I run the EarthViewer 3d setup (www.keyhole.com), wine tells me
this:

ERROR: You need to merge the 'winedefault.reg' file into your
Wine registry by running: `regedit winedefault.reg'

fixme:ole:_LocalServerThread CoMarshalInterface failed, 80070057!

Can someone help me with the ERROR: part (typing that command tells me
that winedefault.reg doesn't exist)

It's an InstallShield Wizard - not sure what version, but it's a newer
one - I would bet InstallShield 6.

Wine Version is latest CVS.

Re: Segmentation Fault: A possibility???

2002-10-28 Thread Kye Lewis
Hi,

Sorry for posting all of this to the wine-devel group continuously, but I may
have found the problem (or I may not have) but either way I need some help.

I have run wine --debugmsg +relay acrord32.exe and read the resulting file.
The last thing that comes up is: wineoss.drv

I had a quick look through the specific function's code

(The actual log entry is:

Call wineoss.drv.DriverProc(,403e2858,0001,,)
ret=40c9d2b5

)

Recently in the KDE Control Panel's Sound options, I ticked the 'Use Full
Duplex' option - and ever since that it hasn't worked.

Could this have been the reason?

I can't look and see if it was now, i'll have to restart linux, and right now
i'm the internet server on the network - so no restarts for me :(

Just a little more info...

Wine is working with notepad.exe, calc.exe, winhlp32.exe,
and seemingly fine with console apps like ping.exe (eg. It doesn't
segfault)

Some applications (eg. pbrush.exe, write.exe) don't fault, they just
quit silently back to the bash prompt

But other apps like Acrobat Reader (acrord32.exe) and media player
(mplayer.exe, mplayer2.exe and wmplayer.exe) ARE faulting.

Only the first application in the session to fault says so - the rest
just freeze after the 'See wine User guide...' text, and cannot be
CTRL+C'd out of.

As well, the wine processes in the background cannot be killed with a
killall wine, however wineserver can..

Kye Lewis
