Well we could do something blunt like have CIOPFS deliberately make a
"hey I'm case insensitive file" that Wine could look for.

That's kinda difficult on Linux. It's easy enough to tell if you're on a
FUSE FS (statfs(2) will tell you that), but it's somewhat tedious to
tell exactly which FUSE FS it is (AFAIK, the only way to tell is to read
the mount table).

Since it's relevant I'll mention the CIOPFS (case-insensitive on
purpose) FUSE module that was made a while back.  It works fine as far
as I can tell (and I believe Mac supports FUSE), it's just waiting for
some glue code to be actually used with a Wine installation.

Wine still needs to be made aware when it's on CIOPFS though (similar to
how it behaves on fat32 partitions)

d3dx: should NULL defines be accepted?

The current code for the functions:

D3DXCreateEffectFromFileExW  

D3DXCreateEffectFromFileExA  

D3DXCreateEffectFromResourceExW  

D3DXCreateEffectFromResourceExA  

D3DXCreateEffectCompilerFromFileW  

D3DXCreateEffectCompilerFromFileA  


includes a check of defines and will returnD3DERR_INVALIDCALL  
  if defines are NULL.

However I see nothing wrong in calling any of those functions with defines  
being NULL. Actually, usually defines are NULL and it is only in specific cases 
when they are set.

Is this a bug? If not, please let me know why.

If you are the maintainer, can you at least update the App Db entry to 
advise there is a regression and file a bug report (if you have not done 
so) and please, please, stop whining...


Regression tests are not really that hard.  I'll give you an example.  I 
have been working on the EM_FORMATRANGE function and let it go for about 
six months due to other things going on in my life (something called El 
Tour de Tucson, you can Google it.)  When I picked up the code, the 
Print Preview function did not work.  I had a lot of code to bisect.  I 
finished this in less than six hours at about 20 minutes a build


However, if you cannot do this and if there is a demo available, advise 
if the problem/error exists with it.


In my case, I was using a free program and its location is well known.

contributing to the awesome WINE project. I've also extensive experience
in C and C++ programming but am not sure if you guys are in need of devs
at the moment -- would appreciate comments on this. As for completing
the Portuguese translation (which at the moment stands at ~97% complete)
I'd more than willing to jump in.

edited the page referenced above and added myself as a (Portuguese)

Nah, it's cool. If you're willing to finish the translations (a handful
of resource strings only, all non-crucial in nature, IIRC) then I'll

Wine-devel is for development discussion, not end user help.

Regression testing is relatively easy, lots of users do it all the
time. If you have trouble, consult the forum / wine-users for help.

Keep in mind wine is volunteer project, so you can't expect people to
do things for you, you need to help us help you.

For starters, you could check if the demo has the same problem:

that way someone else could run the regression test, since not
everyone has the game. Though with a poor attitude like that, I'm not

There is plenty of stuff to do besides fixing bugs of course. What you 
want to do depends on many things like skills, interest, the amount of 
time you have etc..


Remember that we are in code freeze now so looking at bugs and trying to 
figure out what could be wrong or even providing information that could 
lead to fixing the bugs is welcome.
