Sent this message 2 hrs ago but don't see it.

I've been going back and forth between u.fl and mmcx lately. It's be
nice to not have to re weatherproof them all the time. I'd like to
leave both pigtails hooked up but only one actually attached to a card.

RE: [WISPA] City should re-evaluate value of WiFi

2006-10-05 Thread Jonathan Schmidt
I suspect that Terms of Service, like this, below from RoadRunner,
are part of service agreements.
. . . j o n a t h a n

" I agree that, among other things, my use of any form of transmitter or
wide area network that enables persons or entities outside the location
identified in the Work Order to use my Services, whether or not a fee is
sought, will constitute an enterprise purpose. Furthermore, if I use a
wireless network within my residence, I will limit wireless access to the
HSD Service (by establishing and using a secure password or similar means)
to the members of my household. "

He is actually wrong here:
"Now, I know when you ask the question of people who should know better,
the first thing they’ll tell you is that receiving WiFi from other
people’s routers is against the law. This is categorically not true."

Tampa Bay is one of the only places to prosecute someone for using an
unsecured wi-fi signal.
He was prosecuted for hacking.

I don't know what he is complaining about. These networks in Florida
have been pretty much funded by not one dime of tax dollars. So what's
the problem? That's like him complaining that One Ring Networks has
Mid-Town lit.

Re: [WISPA] Auto rate or Locked rate 802.11b

2006-10-05 Thread KyWiFi LLC
Hi Marshall,

My personal advice is to let the radios negotiate the best rate.
Just make sure they associate at the 11Mbps rate and you'll be
good to go. Anything less and you're going to have un-needed
stress. ;-)

All,

What is the best practice when configuring 802.11b clients. Do you
find that locking the client rate to something low (5.5M, 2M) works
best, or is it best just to let the radios negotiate the best rate?

Thanks

I lock units with low SNR.

If SNR is 15 or greater I let the unit decide
