Hey Joe. Can you give us an update on what is going on down your way? Are you selling a bunch of connections? What gear are you deploying? How well is the area recovering? Any information is appreciated. Cheers, Scriv Joe Laura wrote: As far as I know all their wireless gear was removed from New Orleans about 4 months ago. Nice job of cherry picking posts Patrick. I am impressed! I stand corrected that Allen was more of an Alvarion shop than I remember. Yes, Mobilepro bought ShreveNet along with a payphone company and a variety of other small companies. Bottom of this webpage http://www.nationwide.net lists some of the companies they have acquired. Wrong. Allen ran Alvarion for years. Here are a few posts to prove it: >From 2001: >However, the retrans are hitting around 20%-30%. I can't figure out >what the problem could be. Lots to check out.. First make sure Max Rate is set to 1Mbps. The reason is that your 89-91 RSSI falls in the 1Mbps threshold: RSSI > 108 3Mbps 95 < RSSI < 1082Mbps RSSI < 95 1Mbps Some of those retrans might be the radio making futile attempts to try 2 and 3Mbps.. So make sure Multirate is enabled and Max Rate is set no higher than the RSSI will allow. Second log into the radio and go to 4) Site Survey then 1) Traffic Statistics and 1) Display Counters.. Midway you will see something like this: Total tx errors :1 (H/W: 0, ABR: 0, CSL: 0, ACKTOUT: 0) (FAIL: 0, ACKCRC: 0, RTSC: 0, EOD: 1) These 8 error types tell the whole story.. CSL errors means there is lots of noise in the area and the radio is having a hard time finding clean air to transmit into.. ACKTOUT is if your Ack Delay is set wrong (low for a few miles, med for up to 9 miles, and high for double digit distances). RTSC is the booger.. That is a RTS Collision in theory (if everything else is perfect in the RF link). But anything can cause a RTSC from a badly engineered link to water in a connector.. In general, it means either the client or AP is having a hard time hearing one another - someone is not responding.. If you drive down CSL errors, RTSC errors can go down too. That is, there is a relationship between these errors.. A good start is to read the manual's brief explanation of the error types.. Then start on CSL errors and save RTSC errors for last in your attack plan.. RE: [WISPA] 5.3/5.8 GHz Antenna Suggestion
Hello Tim, When purchasing the grids the next time, select the HDGD58-29 antennas. These come with a new L-Bracket that attaches to the reflector in 4 locations. The L-Bracket is also tapped for easy installation. This can be seen on page 2 of the spec sheet: http://pacwireless.com/products/GD58_Data_Sheet.pdf If needed, these new L-Brackets will accommodate a 4" U-Bolt (U-Bolts not provided). Drop me your address and we can send you a sample of the L-bracket. Let me know if you have any questions. [WISPA] Factoid
http://telephonyonline.com/regulatory/commentary/net_neutrality_dies_070706/ While the average household currently downloads about 2 gigabytes worth of Web content each month, the dramatic proliferation of new technologies influencing the use of the Internet--from streaming video to full-length movie downloads to the manipulation of ever larger data files--could soon see consumption by residential broadband users averaging hundreds or thousands of gigabytes each month. Without enhancements to the nation’s Internet infrastructure, this increased demand could soon slow the Internet down to a crawl. -- Regards, Peter Radizeski RAD-INFO, Inc. - NSP Strategist We Help ISPs Connect & Communicate 813.963.5884 http://www.marketingIDEAguy.com -- WISPA Wireless List: wireless@wispa.org Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://lists.wispa.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless Archives: http://lists.wispa.org/pipermail/wireless/
