[WISPA] AN-50 vs. AN-80

2007-12-27 Thread Mike Hammett
I'm looking at these two models for enterprise PtMP. The 50 is obviously the
older of the two models.

I see the pros of the 50 as being more spectrally efficient and less expensive
when fully upgraded on PtMP. I can't quite tell, but perhaps 5.4 and 5.8 are
in the same unit.

I see the pros of the 80 being PoE and higher gross throughput on PtP (due to
larger channels).

I see everything else being the same. Is this correct?

[WISPA] Freeside + QuickBooks

2007-12-27 Thread Mike Hammett
When Googling, I find that Freeside and QuickBooks are competitors in the WISP
billing environment. However, I see them more as complimentary than
competition. How can I export what Freeside does into QuickBooks?

Re: [WISPA] Freeside + QuickBooks

2007-12-27 Thread Matt Larsen - Lists
Just use QuickBooks to do your regular bookkeeping, and Freeside to
handle the Accounts Receivable from your ISP customers. Everyday, we
input all of our payments into Freeside, then add up the deposit and put
the total deposit into QuickBooks under Freeside Deposits. This
system has worked great for us for the last several years.

Can anyone give me the low down on the DFS Rules.

Are there any channels in the 5.3 section that is not affected by
radar?

We have some towers that have multiple radios with channel plans
that incorporate all 5ghz spectrum from ap's to backhaul links.

To loose the 5.3 to radar dramatically affects our network because now
I have to figure out how I'm going to fit all the radios in 5.8ghz.

Has this hindered anyone else and to what extent? Any ideas to squeeze
in radios on 5.8.

I heard 5.4 will be available, is his so and when?

Tom, just catching up on these. Is what your saying below, that
Mikrotik's Nstreme2(dual card, FDX, PTP) still has a small amount of
transmit occurring on the designated Rx card? I've always assumed that
it was truly full duplex. But I've never really tested, wondering how
sure you were on your PS below?

Thanks

Star OS now has a FDX option. So does Tranzeo. (meaning a seperate

PS: I'd argue that no 802.11 radio is 100% true Full Duplex, meaning
the 802.11 proto responds on the same channel, but at Layer 3 they
seperate which channel is for sending and receiving.

For True FDX, most of the Licensed Part101 Gear does it. TrangoGiga,
Cable Free, Dragonwave, Ceragon.

Other than N-Streme 2, what out there is true FDX and not just HDX
with 50/50 balancing?

At the IP layer, it is true FDX. However, NStreme (and NStreme
dual) is based on 802.11 protocol. There is some protocol
information that is needed to maintain each individual link that is
not happening at full duplex. This is a very small amount of
traffic, but is happening, nonetheless.
