[WISPA] VOIP Provider

2008-09-04 Thread Joshua Rowe
It seems to me that there was another, or maybe several other, VOIP providers
mentioned in a previous post that offers reseller packages but does not
require the $2500 initial deposit that VOX requires but offered similar
services. Would someone please help jog my mind?

Thanks!

Re: [WISPA] IP based security system

2008-08-07 Thread Joshua Rowe
Chuck,
They have outdoor enclosures for the outside located cameras, they are POE
48V. The mpeg4 are POE 48V 802.3af, which a nice midspan switch will power up
to 8 of them. They have several models of cameras.

They have more information on their site: www.networkipcamera.com or I'd be
glad to send you some data sheets I have available, Feel free to email me off
list if you'd like.

Thanks!
Josh

Re: [WISPA] IP based security system

2008-08-05 Thread Joshua Rowe
I currenty have a customer that is using Intellinet 550710 cameras, the
quality is acceptable and the cost is reasonable. The cameras have lifetime
warranties and interchangable lenses (wide angle, zoom, etc.) Motion
detection built in, however I use motion detection built into the camera
server I setup for them using an open source software package. There are 5
cameras on the system and could be expanded for more. If you want more
information let me know and I could get some demo video for you and specs.

I also have another customer that has purchased their night vision mpeg4
cameras 550314, but has not had me install them yet, however the testing I
got to do with them impressed me.

If I can help you out just let me know.

Re: [WISPA] traffic reporting

2008-05-14 Thread Joshua Rowe
Travis,
If they are using Cisco Routers you can use ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer. It
provides source and destination info along with traffic info (utilization,
speed, packets, volume, etc.) There is nothing to change on the client or
server side, other than configure the router to send the info. to the
monitoring host. They have a free demo, and it's free to monitor one device,
runs on a windows box. Check it out and see if it will fit the bill.

Re: [WISPA] R52H WOES

2008-03-07 Thread Joshua Rowe
I have also seen problems with the R52H cards and power output as many of
you have noticed. I have also seen signal loss problems with pigtails and n-
type cables lately which brings me to the point I want to make.

What has happened to quality control?

In my humble opinion the manufacturer should test these products before ever
shipping to the distributor/vendor as they are clearly manufacturer defects.
I'm sure Pasadena, Wisp-router, etc. would not sell faulty products had they
known, and it is not up to them to test every card or cable before they
ship, they rely on the manufacturer to provide a quality product. I'm
somewhat familiar with the manufacturing industry and yes, I agree with
those of you who will say it's too costly to test every single item and if
the manufacturer had to absorb that cost it would only be passed on to us
consumers resulting in higher priced gear, and none of us want that and we
should not have pay a few extra bucks per unit to ensure proper operation so
we're not wasting man hours on testing, climbing a tower or making a truck
roll for a second time due to . It is very dissapointing and costly to have
to test and sort the radio cards, pigtails, cables, etc before ever being
deployed because the manufacturer does not not to mention the cost in
returning them.

In most environments, the engineer at the manufacturer determines an
acceptable tolerance range of the components used to create an item that
will perform at the specs. they sell them under, someone is not doing their
job in quality to ensure that the products shipping out are in these
tolerances.

I would like to ask our distributors who are on this list to take the time
to discuss these issues with the manufacturers and I'm sure this will
improve, in the meantime buy a meter and order extras!!!

I agree with the netflow data, it's easy on the router, no super huge
database required, and here is a link to a demo for a product I've used
before that may just fit the bill for you, I have used the free edition
(monitors two interfaces)for some time now for a customers dedicated line
and it works nicely with lots of handy reporting. Let me know if this helps,
thanks!
