Re: [WISPA] Mikrotik 900MHz feedback

2007-03-22 Thread Jack Unger

Jim,

To be legal, the SR9 card needs to be part of a certified system
(wireless card, motherboard, case, and antenna). Just using the card in
your own custom-made system, even though the card itself has an FCC ID
number, is not enough to make your system (FCC Part 15) legal.

Marty,

Pardon the naivity, but what prevents the SR9s from being legal? I am
looking at deploying these in RB 133C's.

Probably not legal- so not really very cost effective :)

Is anyone using the MTIKs w/ the 900MHz cards?

We use Mikrotiks for routing frequently; however, we have never used
them as
an actual access point. How do these work as 900MHz APs/SUs and is it
more

cost effective than a canned solution such as Trango or Tranzeo 900 gear?

Thanks.

Re: [WISPA] Mikrotik 900MHz feedback

2007-03-20 Thread Travis Johnson
The biggest difference with MT 900mhz vs. Trango is the Trango radios
have filters already built into the units. In noisy environments, the
Trango will perform much better unless you install filters on the MT units.
