Wireless Beacons

2015-11-24 Thread Turner, Ryan H
All:

For those of you that are on campuses that use wireless beacons to deliver
content and information to students, I am interested in hearing how it is being
deployed or plans to be deployed... I'd like to know opportunities that exist
in your environment as well as the problems it may solve. As we start to
deploy the wave 2 AC Aps from Aruba that include the beacon in the AP, it will
make the networking group a facilitator of the growth of the technology. We
have a campus application that we would like to drive more people to download,
and increasing the functionality of that application through beacons may be a
good avenue.

RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] Cisco WLC Software Version of the Month Club Chat.

2015-11-24 Thread Philip C Theruvakattil
We have been running 8.0.120.0 since early August. 2 x 5508 and 480 APs. 802.1x
auth

mDNS enabled with approximately 60 Apple TVs deployed. We had been experiencing
problems with Apple TVs disappearing from the list but with 8.0.120.0 those
issues appear to have been resolved.

So far it has been quite stable and don’t have any compelling reasons to
upgrade just yet.

:)

So, I think we might try to upgrade our code on our 5508, currently at ancient
7.6.130.26

What's everyone running these days?

Cisco suggests 8.0.121.0, and I see that 8.1.131.0 was released Nov 6.

We run a modest 263 APs on a 5508, with a HA unit waiting to be deployed.

Thoughts?

2015-11-24 Thread Danny Eaton
We’re running 8.0.110.11, and have been on it since May 14th. We had some odd
problems before with failovers, but it’s been rock solid stable since then – up
continuously. Two pairs of WiSM2 HA clusters, with 850-ish IPs each.

2015-11-24 Thread Mathieu Sturm
We were looking at upgrading our 5508 as well.

We experienced bug CSCur33085 so we wanted to upgrade to a version that doesn’t
contain that bug. Unfortunately this bug is still in version 8.0.121.0 and will
be resolved in the not yet released 8.0.122. We want to go straight to 8.1.x
but there isn’t a recommended release. If I were you I’d wait until a stable 8.1

Just my 2 cents though
