[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 12064] extcap/androiddump: Wireshark fails to start when Android device attached

2016-02-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12064

(In reply to Michal Labedzki from comment #1)
> I can see there is a problem with "-" (minus). Without minus - works. With
> "_" (let call that lower-case "-" :) ) also works.

Yeah, although I do not get why it does not work with androiddump, but worked
without an issue with sshdump. There are arguments like remote-count, ... and
they work fine.

I am still looking into that, but if you have an idea, feel free to submit a
patch.

2016-02-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12055

Newer versions of Bugzilla *really* want to use CONFIRMED as the initial status
to the point of ignoring UNCONFIRMED if it's first in the list.

I ended up modifying the source code do default to the first status. The other
option was to disable every status except UNCONFIRMED, which would have kept
people from using CONFIRMED, IN_PROGRESS, or INCOMPLETE.

Note that older versions of Bugzilla tied the initial status value to the
"minimum votes to confirm" setting. As an experiment I changed its value which
triggered a bunch of UNCONFIRMED → CONFIRMED changes.

I recently installed Wireshark 2.0.1 in my Macbook Pro 15" Retina Display (Mid
2014 Model) running on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.3. The GUI is refreshingly
greater. But I see a subtle nuance. I am not able to re-size the panes...the
Packet List Pane, Packet Summary Pane and Packet Details Pane. I saw a similar
bug reported in Linux Flavours as well in Bugzilla.

[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 10220] add ISO 8601 date format option to tshark -T fields (FT_ABSOLUTE_TIME type fields)

2016-02-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10220

Other than for compatibility reasons, a case could be made that, for "-T
fields" output, absolute times should *always* be written out in ISO 8601
format, as "-T fields" output is generally parsed by software, and it's easier
for them to parse ISO 8601 date/time values than to parse dates and times
formatted for humans (especially given that dates and times formatted for
humans might show it in the locale's format using the locale's month names).

I don't know how much disruption just changing it would have for existing
scripts.

Independently of this, a user might want to have the "human-readable" output
("-T text -V" output in TShark, packet details pane in Wireshark) in ISO 8601
format as well.

We already show the time stamp column in ISO 8601 format, which further argues
for it as at least an option, if not the default.

I've opened a capture with Info lines wide enough that they don't fit within
the packet list pane, and attempts to scroll horizontally result in vertical
scrolling - no horizontal scrolling.

(The lack of a horizontal scrollbar is, on OS X, not necessarily a bug by
itself; I tried my favorite reference example, Mail, and if I narrow the Mail
window, whilst it allows me to scroll the message list pane, it doesn't appear
to show a horizontal scrollbar for it, even when scrolling.)

Although Quicken for Mac 2016 *does* have a horizontal scrollbar that pops up.
That's what I love about the Mac - enforced UI consistency!

While I understand that it is not incorrect, the issue is that it is not
displaying in the format it was before. Also, I have tested some other ble
packet captures that have some syncing between devices and a lot of the data
during the sync operation are showing unknown direction between devices and
some erroneous data. When I get time later today I will attach another pcap
with some sync data. But in the mean time at least I can tell what handle
values are being written to and I can generally gather everything else I need.

I would like to add my weight to this bug-report. We also need dumpcap to
handle pcap-ng via a pipe as we also need to send additional data with each
packet for dissection.

My only option now is to use the ts_usec header field of the standard libpcap
offering to add in my extra data which is a pretty horrible hack given that
wireshark and tshark both already support pcap-ng.

Test Scenario:

1. CDF sends Data Record Transfer Request message to CGF server over Ga
interface.

2. Configure CDF server for version 0 and long header format (20 octet length)
message.

As per spec 32295 6.1.1:

Bit 1 of octet 1 is not used in GTP' (except in v0), and it is marked '0' in
the GTP' header. It is in use in GTP' v0 and
distinguishes the used header-length. In the case of GTP' v0, this bit being
marked one (1) indicates the usage of the 6
octets header. If the bit is set to '0' (usually the case) the 20-octet header
is used. For all other versions of GTP', this bit
is not used and is set to '0'. However, this does not suggest the use of the
20-octet header, rather a shorter 6-octet header.

issue:

CDF server is sending it correctly but wireshark is decoding wrongly.

i.e: Till sequence number message is decoded properly (which contain 6 octet)
the rest 14 octet is decoded with some IE which is not part of GTPP DRTR
message.

The wrong IEs are :

Flow Level
SNDCP N-PDU LLC Number
TID

Spec 32295 does not have some IE.

Attached the trace and log file for further analysis.

Flow Graph draws data arrows only in black color.
Instead it can use background color which is set by color filters.

SequenceDiagram::draw() method can read color value from "seq_analysis_item_t".

It may be hard to read the text and see the line if the background color is a
light color, because it's drawn on white background.

But we may want to add an option to use the background color as a background
color in the graph, and the foreground color for text and arrow. I haven't
tried this so I don't know if it's usable.

message is like this:

Reverting these patches solves the problem:

The problem appears to be that some new preferences are named based on the
extcap interface name. androiddump tool generate interface names from the
device serial number with capital letters present. Preferences however have to
be lower case only.
