Re: [Wireshark-users] Missing Capture filters

2008-02-05 Thread Jim Mathe
I'm running on a windows system. The Wireshark folder has the cfiters file
there no extension but the display filters do not show up (there is a
dfilters in the same wireshark directory) Both files have enties in them
but the Capture and Display Filter Expressions don't show up when you are
trying to define a filter once you have wireshark open and running?

Are you running on Windows or Unix? The global capture filters are
saved in /usr/local/share/wireshark/cfilters on Unix and
 %WIRESHARK%\cfilters on Windows.

The file format is the same for each platform so I have included the
default capture filters as of 0.99.8 development version (I don't think
they've changed in a while though) as an attachment to this e-mail so
you can replace yours if it is missing.

AFAIK there is no default list of capture filters, you pretty much have
to type what you want in there.

(There are some exceptions: for example if Wireshark detects that you
ssh'd into the machine where you are running Wireshark then it will
auto-populate the capture filter box with a filter that will try to
filter out the ssh traffic that Wireshark itself would generate.)
