Witango-Talk: Witango renamed; 6.1 Beta release

2011-05-20 Thread Witango Support

We are very pleased to announce the rename of the Witango platform and
products.

Beginning with the release of version 6.1, the Witango platform and
language will become TeraScript. The Witango Application Server will be
named TeraScript Server, and the Witango Development Studio will be named
TeraScribe.

We've put a lot of time and thought into this decision, and we hope and
believe that the new name will be more conducive to the future of
Tango/Witango/TeraScript and representative of the elements of the past and
present that make the platform unique.

We are also happy to inform you that we will be running a beta of
TeraScript 6.1, beginning with today's release of TeraScribe 6.1.0 Beta for
Windows. TeraScribe 6.1 will address more than 30 customer requests and bug
reports and will provide a noticeable improvement in stability and user
experience. Beta installers for Mac and Linux and TeraScript Server will
be released shortly. Please visit TeraScript.com to download the beta
installer and read the Installation Notes and Release Notes.

We will be gradually transitioning to the new name and new website over the
summer as we develop content and community features for TeraScript. For
the moment, www.witango.com is still the primary site for account access,
sales, and release version downloads.

Please check out the beta, and report any feature requests and bug reports
using the feedback form on witango.com. Please contact us with any
questions about the beta or the rename at supp...@terascript.com or (908)
605-0652.

Thank you very much for your support and encouragement over the past 10
months, and we hope you are as excited about the future of TeraScript as we
are!

Witango-Talk: Behavioral Change - @XSLT removed in Witango 6.1

2011-04-11 Thread Witango Support

Due to an unfortunate set of limitations we have encountered at this
particular phase of our ongoing efforts to update Witango's underlying
dependencies, we will need to temporarily remove the @XSLT Meta Tag from
Witango Server as of minor version 6.1.

We hope that this change will have few, if any, negative ramifications for
Witango users, but we need your feedback to confirm this or help us
determine what we can do to mitigate the change. Please tell us about your
use of @XSLT, and feel free to email supp...@witango.com directly with your
reply.

Are you using @XSLT in your Witango applications?

How critical is this function in your application?

Would you be willing to provide us some details of your @XSLT usage
scenario(s)?

Thank you for your input - this will help us in scheduling the further
dependency updates we will need to perform in order to restore this tag.
Please let us know if you have any questions, and thank you for your
support of Witango!

RE: Witango-Talk: Witango 6 for Windows released

2010-12-01 Thread Witango Support
Matthew,

Thank you for pointing this issue out. This is an older link that we
neglected to update when we installed a new routing mechanism. We will
correct the link and the error.

Trial and Free licenses can be requested by logging into the website, then
clicking on 'Request a Free or Trial License' from the 'My Account' page.
After you submit the form, the license will be added to your account and
you can view and retrieve the license from the 'View/Upgrade Licenses' page
by clicking on the link to email the license to yourself.

With the release of Witango 6, all licenses are in two parts - the license
key and the license text block - and the only way to obtain both parts of
the license is through this email function.

Witango-Talk: version 6 release schedule update; logo contest

2010-09-21 Thread Witango Support

It has been a while since our last update to the list, but the time seems to
have gone by in a flash! We are keeping our small team very busy working on
all aspects of the product, and everyone is now up-to-speed with their own
piece of the puzzle. We're all very excited about the progress we are making
daily towards the upcoming release of version 6.

As a result, we're happy to say that we've been able to complete our evaluation
of what needs to be done and narrow down our release schedule from a release
'season' to a release 'month' - today we are refining our version 6 release
time frame down from Fall 2010 to November 2010. Stay tuned for a release date!

Starting on October 1st, you will be able to pre-order upgrades and full
versions of version 6 products. All pre-release orders will benefit from an
additional 10% discount. Orders will be charged to credit cards or invoiced
only after version 6 is available.

We'd also like to invite you to participate in a contest to come up with our
new logo concept. After puzzling over ways to graphically distill the essense
of Witango, and since we've received so many generous offers of assistance,
we've decided to turn the logo concept over to the community. We are offering
a $200 discount on any Witango purchase for the winning entry.

So please submit your logo ideas! The idea should be more than a simple
"cocktail napkin" sketch, but it does not need to be a final art piece. We are
looking for a logo that specifically does not include or embed any text or
letters from the name of the product - it should be a graphic only, although
you can stylize and place the name alongside the graphic if you wish. Ideally
the logo would capture some aspect of Witango's function or spirit and scale
easily (in whole or in part) from larger sizes to desktop and browser icons.
For more information and contest rules, please visit
http://www.witango.com/product/faq.taf?_function=detail&faq_uid1=41 .

Re: Witango-Talk: getting the record number of the row justcreated

2003-08-24 Thread Witango Support
You can also use a Direct DBMS containing:

select <@literal @@identity>

immediately after the insert action. This will result in one record being
returned which will be the id of the record you have just inserted

(<@ASSIGN request$Record_ID "@@request$ResultSet[1,1]">)

You will need to have both the insert action and the Direct DBMS within a
Begin/End Transaction for this to work.

Re: Witango-Talk: Column Names

2003-06-29 Thread Witango Support
Hi Dan,

Just to add to what Ben said. If the array is being generated from a
database then the columns of that array will be named corresponding to the
field in the database table (eg @@request$Products[<@CURROW>,ProductName]).
If however the array is generated differently, for example using
<@TOKENIZE>, the columns of the array will not be named. To reference these
columns you can assign a value to row 0 which will be the name of the column
in the array.

Suppose we have the array @@request$products

<@assign request$products[0,1] "ProductId">

<@assign request$products[0,2] "ProductName">

<@assign request$products[0,3] "prod_desc">

<@assign request$products[0,4] "contact_name">

By doing this it is now possible to reference the values in this array using
@@request$products[<@currow>,ProductName].

Re: Witango-Talk: Identifying columns by Name in an Array in @ROWS

2003-03-05 Thread Witango Support

Hi Gerard,
Just to follow up on Ben's method. If the array is
being generated from a database then the columns of that array will be named
corresponding to the field in the database table (eg @@request$SubMenu[<@CURROW>,SubMenuID]).
If however the array is generated differently, for example using
<@TOKENIZE>, the columns of the array will not be named. To reference
these columns you can use method 1 or 2 below or you can assign a value to row 0
which will be the name of the column in the array.
Suppose we have the array
@@request$products
<@assign request$products[0,1]
"ProductId">
<@assign request$products[0,2]
"ProductName">
<@assign request$products[0,3]
"prod_desc">
<@assign request$products[0,4]
"contact_name">
By doing this it is now possible to reference the
values in this array using
@@request$products[<@currow>,ProductName].

information by using method 1. or 2., but is there a syntax that allows you to
use method 3..  I am assuming that it doesn't work because the column
name is not assigned to the Array, but thought that I might ask the fine
people at Witango Talk.  After all, @@local$resultSet appears to
  possesses the Column names.

  <@ROWS
  ARRAY="@@user$SubMenu">    1.
  @@SubMenu[<@CURROW>,1]2.  <@COL
  NUM="1">    3.  <@COL
  NAME='SubMenu.SubMenuID'>
  </@ROWS>
  Thanks,
  Gerard

Chris/Atrix,

You don't actually need to write a copy to disk on the server as suggested.
It is possible to change the http headers and send the data to excel
directly.

Attached is a very basic taf which demonstrates this functionality with
Witango 5.

FYI this will be available along with other Witango components in our
forthcoming Witango Component Zone.

The attached files which were sent out a few weeks ago demonstrate how
the @email and @emailsession tags work and how they integrate with POP3.

Full instructions are detailed below.

Re: Receiving EmailAttached are two files that
are currently in development to demonstrate howthe @email and
@emailsession tags work and interact with POP3 mail. Theemail.taf file
creates an object called mailproc and the followingparameters are
passed into the mail method call:* action - specified tasks to
  perform - [getids,list,getheaderonly,getall] ;* port - typically 110
for a POP3 service;* username - the username required to log on to the
mail server ;* password - the password required to log on to the mail
server;* server - mail server IP address. The mail.tcf file
opens an email session and depending on the 'action'method variable
specified, a number of tasks are performed.  For example,
ifmethod$action = "" then all of the message(s) information is
retrievedand the attachments are written to disk. The email session is
then closedand an array containing the mail details is passed back to
email.taf.Obviously a class file need not be used to do this as
all of the emailretrieval and processing could be done in a single
more complex taf. However, for more experienced users, I would
recommend the use of a tcf or acustom tag such as @POP_MAIL.  In
a normal results this would take the form:<@POP_MAIL
  username="@@request$username"
  password="@@request$password"server="@@request$serveripaddress"
action="" port="110">.More information on how custom
tags can be used is available in the helpfiles of the Witango Studio
or with the Custom Tag Generator
  onhttp://developer.witango.comThe above functionality could
also be modelled to keep track of messagethreads by writing the
messages to a database and automatically linking theemails together
(child to parent) based on the in-reply-to-id or referencesor subject.
These new tags also allow for the operation of a mail client onany
site/server running Witango. A full featured working example of
aWitango mail client will be available to download soon.If you
have any questions/comments please do not hesitate to contact
  me.Regards,FergalFergal DonlonWitango
