I think you could also run the executable and grab the MSI out of the temp

Is it possible to extract MSIs bundled in a Burn EXE? If so, is there a
  recommended tool for that?

  Thanks,
  Shruthi

Re: [WiX-users] LIT Error - Cannot find file (Solved)

2011-10-22 Thread Rob Mensching
Max path is 260. Lit uses a few characters to root things in the embedded
cabinet so you don't get them all.

I figured this out, (posting to share)...

It would appear that the filepath-name limitation in LIT is something less
that 211 characters. I shortened the file name by 13 characters; and the
issue went away. The buildserver path is about a dozen characters longer
than the resulting local dev workstation paths we use.

I had thought that the path length maximum was somewhere between 223 and
 255?

It could be that you have an old wixobj out there for that component. You
could try removing that and rebuilding.

Subject: [WiX-users] LIT Error - Cannot find file

I have started receiving this error

lit.exe : error LIT0103: The system cannot find the file
 '..\Content.Client\dir1\Content\Integration\common\niem\ut_offender-tracking-misc\2.0\ut_offender-tracking-misc.xsd'
 with type ''. [D:\Builds\1\Product\version\Source\client
 \Fragment.TX.TarrantCounty.Content.LegacySonicService\Fragment.client.Content.contentlib.wixproj]

What I don't understand is that this is only happening for two files out of
about 100; I verified the paths and they are valid. In fact the relative
pathing is doing using a defined value, and it is used for every file within
this wix project, as well as others. Anyone have any idea as to how I should
 go about troubleshooting this?

This builds correctly 100% of the time on the desktop builds.
