[WiX-users] msi patchs not updating the manually edited files
Hi, We give MSI patches using wix. Customers some time manually edit the xml files and some other config files. When the customer apply our msi patch, The patch is not replacing the manually edited files in the customer environment. Is there any way as to replace all the files irrespective of any manual modifications. Hi, I would like to create a patch which can install a single file/component. [WiX-users] How do we assign a version to file component in wix?
Hi, I have a problem with my patching mechanism in WIX. The problem is, There were some manual patches given to the customer. i.e to manually copy the config and executable files Now when they apply the patch made by WIX technology, this patch is not copying the manually replaced files. But applying patch is successful. How do I fix this issue? And I was reading a couple of blogs on MSI, saying file versioning might help. Currently the log file shows that the files are unversioned. How do I give a version to a file component? The DefaultVersion option did not work for me. [WiX-users] error message for 64 bit installer on 32 bit machine
Hi, When we try to install a 64 bit MSI on a 32 bit machine, the error message is not clear. The error message is: " This installation package is not support by this processor type". Because I need to support the Upgrade functionalityfrom one version to the other. Second question: Do you intend to supply "delta-file" patches or "whole-file" patches? Answer is: I'm planning to go with "delta-file" patches. But I can also go with the "whole-file" patches, if this is needed for backward compatible patches. [WiX-users] Patches which work across different versions?
Hi, Can anybody help me in explaining how to make patches for different versions? My requirement is: I have version 1.0.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 Released for various customers. Now if I can make one patch for 1.0.2, it should work for the release 1.0.0 and 1.0.1. Is this possible? As far as I know, we cannot call an MSI inside an other MSI. Anyone Correct me if I'm wrong. What we can do is generate wxs from the msi(reverse engineering), which we need inside our msi. Then generate an MSI including those wxs.
