Everything is there at http://www.tramontana.co.hu/wix/lesson9.php, except for this little unsupported trick but you can combine the two easily. But if you do need a way for the users to select a language, you will need a bootstrapper, anyway, and then you can even use the standard, supported way. I'll definitely check it out and report my results. One caveat, though, is that they will want the user to select the language, as many of our customers work with OSs that are not in their native language. I'll also need to get up to speed on transforms, it seems. "Multi-Language MSI Packages without Setup.exe Launcher" http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/msi/articles/embeddedlang/index.htm I haven't tried this yet but it sounds ideal. It's undocumented and therefore officially not supported. But if it works, hey, why not? By the way, if you try it, could you post back to the list to let us know if it was successful or not? Thanks. [WiX-users] Multilingual Support
Yes, I know the short answer is 'no'. However, my powers-that-be know of a few installers that can make a single multilingual install package, (I think they are all non-msi based) and they have pointed out this is a high priority feature and if I can't do with wix or another msi-based solution, do it with one of the ones that can. Yes, I know a single ansi based codepage. But, before I give up on the wix approach, isn't there some creative work-around for this? perhaps with resource dlls? If so, how could this be done?
