Thanks BALATON for your reply.

Zoltan is from Hungary, they use "LAST First" instead of "First
Last" ;-)

That's right, thank you. This is why it's capitalised that way but not
everyone knows this convention.

This reminds me epic thread -

:-) Fortunately I'm not that upset if someone gets it wrong. (By the way
watching the broadcast from the Olympics I noticed that they got it right
for Chinese names and maybe Korean but still not for Japanese and
Hungarian.)

As for Kix' question, I think that a perfectly working feature should not
be removed just because someone is annoyed by it (there was only one bug
report so it seems most people were OK with it except the one who sent the
bug report). For the same reason there's no need to change the default and
the few people who don't like it can change their Prefs easily. The same
grab also happens when resizing windows. What would you do about that?

If you want to avoid the freeze in display when just pressing the mouse
button without moving it then you might try to move the start of the grab
to the first Motion event like it's done when resizing a window. But now
that we know it it might be useful sometimes if you want to pause the
display for some reason so other people might start to miss it if you
change it. :-)

BALATON Zoltan

Sorry for my mistake.

I set the bug as wontfix and I explained the workaround (set to
None,...). Bug closed.

Thanks a lot.

Background menu, use keep the aspect ratio by default

2012-08-10 Thread Rodolfo García Peñas (kix)
Hi,

I am reviewing the Debian bug number 85591
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=85591 ):

---8<---
The current default for the scaled backgrounds menu is to use
scaling without keeping the aspect ratio.

This very rarely yields to a usable background.

Could the default be changed to scaling with keeping the aspect
ratio ?

"Scaled" OPEN_MENU LOCAL_BACKGROUNDS_DIR BACKGROUNDS_DIR USER_BACKGROUNDS_DIR
WITH wmsetbg -u -a
---8<---

The background.menu file has:

"Scaled" OPEN_MENU LOCAL_BACKGROUNDS_DIR BACKGROUNDS_DIR USER_BACKGROUNDS_DIR
WITH wmsetbg -u -s

What do you think is better for us as default, use "-a" or "-s" in scaled?

   -a|--maxscale
scales the specified image preserving its aspect ratio
   -s|--scale
  scales the specified image (default)

Thanks,
kix
