Re: each piece fits into the invention as it is being invented

2006-12-12 Thread Thomas savage
Experience is greater than God since He probably
Doesn't exist and it obviously does. Every morning
When I sit for meditation, I lose track of time for
An hour, since I no longer cheat by bringing my watch
To the cushion where my posterior rests. It's amazing
How much quickly the hour passes while watching
Whatever happens inside the body. It could even
Be said to be an experience outside of time,
If that didn't sound too pseudo-mystical and
A slight bit pretentious. It's also interesting
Perhaps to note how much more quickly time
Passes as we age. But that may require
Another poem at a different time.

Regards, Tom Savage. And thank you for your marvelous poem which prompted me
to respond.

Sheila Murphy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

centages. the missing part was in the middle.
I had pieces not yet made that might go there.
I had color chiseled into fit-less gaps.
I had places brought to life by things already there.
the whole time I was working I stayed standing.
I thought of dancers when I thought at all.
I looked, and I was looking, and repeatedly,
the thing changed while I saw what was
evolving. I did not even ask myself whether
it is wrong to be in love with what I made.

interpretation is an act of cowardice.
  experience equals god.
capital letters exist as a convenience for distinguishing

every so often, the unplanned resembles the articulate.
a safe place to be is what the clock insists.

This is yet another wonderful poem, Sheila. I enjoyed reading it very much. I
occasionally see a small spider in my kitchen but I've never written about it.

I touch the venetian blinds just past the hallway
I taste the meals of Venice in a small way
I know the margins of the mall way past divinity

Please Support Manatee Protection

2006-12-12 Thread Alan Sondheim

PLEASE DONATE TODAY!
Consider A Year-End Gift To Support Manatee Protection

Hi Alan,

As we get ready to close out 2006, we want to thank you for all your
efforts to help manatees this year. We couldn't do it without you, and
we wish you and your loved ones a happy holiday and a new year filled
with peace, prosperity, and health.

But as we move into 2007, time is of the essence. Even though we have
been successful in obtaining protection measures in some key areas,
manatees continue to be killed in near-record numbers from boat collisions,
and shoreline development proceeds at a rapid pace. The sheer number of
people moving to Florida and the increasing number of boats on the
waterways are escalating the threats to our endangered friends.

Despite these growing threats, developers and marine industries are on a
mission to roll back existing manatee protection measures. Unless we have
the means to fight back, our gains will be lost, and the big losers will
be manatees.

We need you to act now while there is still time and make an extra donation
to help ensure our success: http://www.savethemanatee.org/shop/donate.cfm

We are so very grateful for your support, and with your help, we will have
the resources to tackle some vital goals for the protection of endangered
manatees in the upcoming year:

*Develop contingency plans to prevent catastophic manatee die-offs at
artificial warm water refuge sites should power plants go offline

*Increase efforts to conserve water quality and quantity at natural warm
water springs that serve as winter refuges for manatees

*Ensure that federal, state, and local agencies protect aquatic habitats
and allow room for wildlife to flourish when planning for growth

*Hold the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to a commitment to assess the
cumulative effects of coastal development on manatees and the
aquatic environment

*Obtain additional boat speed zones to protect manatees and ensure that
existing regulations are not rolled back

We are gearing up for a challenging year in 2007, and we need your help to
accomplish these goals. http://www.savethemanatee.org/shop/donate.cfm

As we witness the continuous destruction of a once-pristine Florida, I become
more convinced each day that the manatee's future remains very uncertain.
But I am hopeful, because there is still time to protect what remains of
Florida's aquatic habitats and to safeguard the manatee's future.

By enhancing our efforts today, manatees will have a better tomorrow. It's
what they deserve! Your special gift will help make a lasting difference.
http://www.savethemanatee.org/shop/donate.cfm

Thank you for your continued support.

All the best,

Patrick Rose, Aquatic Biologist
Executive Director

P.S. Before victory is declared, habitat loss and manatee injury and death
must be brought under control. With your help, these goals can be accomplished.
Please make a tax-deductible donation today using our secure web site:
