RE: [WSG] accessibility and brower compatibility for Kiosk mode?
In a word, Yes. Some people will try and drag the 'thumb' of the bar, which as I mentioned last time may not be possible at all. Others will just try and use the up and down arrows, which could be painful for a long list, especially if the calibration of the touchscreen is at all problematic (which it always is.) So, if at all possible, split up long lists and find a way to present them separately. Not sure what you are used to, but the ATM's over hear are typically restricted to four 'soft-keys' down one side of the screen, and possibly four more on the other side. This restricts you to just four (eight) options per screen, plus a numpad, so you might want to check if there is any chance that your design might need to work on one of these. This also bring to my attention that I have never seen an ATM machine that has scrollbar. tee *** List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ***
[WSG] IE7 - content not displaying
Hello, I am in the process of coding some templates for a client. Of course, everything works well in Firefox, but IE7 is giving me some problems. The footer on the page is not appearing, but the space that it is meant to hold the footer is present. I know about the peek-a-boo effect for IE, but this does not seem to be the case. Does any one have any suggestions on how to fix this? Example: http://wisconsin.joekiosk.com/version2/research.php Thanks for the help. [WSG] h1 heading followed by h2 or introductory text?
Hello, I have a page where the content starts with an h1 heading, followed by introductory information and this information is followed by h2 headings and their content. Is this compliant with web standards to have and h1 and an h2 seperated by text or should the introductory text be prefaced with an h2? Hi Anat, there is no tool that fully automates the process - too many issues need manual inspection. However, for what can be automated and what needs to be reported back to a human reviewer we found TAW a good (and free) option. http://www.tawdis.net/taw3/cms/en (see right hand side for download). Re: [WSG] accessible client side form validation
Yes, I second it, I implement it on a client's site and was very happy with until I found that it has problem in Safari 3.1 (552513) for the First Name, Last Name and Phone required fields - I had the fields entered correctly, but Safari kept telling me to 'correct the highlighted errors'. It's probably a bug by Safari 3.1 (552513) because I had people tested for me in their Safari with different version, and they all worked. I was forced to remove Matt's script as a result, and have the server- side validation. tee On Apr 22, 2008, at 8:58 PM, Matt Fellows wrote: I humbly suggest my own: http://www.onegeek.com.au/articles/programming/javascript-form-validation.php :) Completely unobtrusive and requires only valid XHTML.
