Re: [WSG] Does anybody know an expandable vertical css/js menu based on uls?
Not sure if this meets all your requirements, but I'm loving the menu presented in Eric Meyer's latest More Eric Meyers on CSS. I'm working with it on a test page now. The page is constantly being fiddled with, but you can look at the nav here: www.pcc.com/testing/client2.html. I highly recommend both of the Meyers on CSS books. I know this is a lot to ask for, but maybe somebody knows a webstandard - konform solution to that bugger ;) Thanks alot in advance! This is a testing ground for me -- obviously. [WSG] list 'buttons' in IE
Hi folks -- I asked about this yesterday, but got no response. In the hopes that my question got lost in the crowd, I'm trying again. In IE, my list buttons are showing up with padding that I don't want, due, I believe to if/else statements in the coding. [WSG] positioning 101
You have all been so patient and immensely helpful as I've waded through the creation of the new section of our site. Here I go again -- This is probably only going to reveal my total lack of understanding the basics of CSS positioning, but you're such generous teachers, I'm going to just go out on a limb and reveal my ignorance. Here's a sample page: www.pcc.com/benchmark/ The challenge (s): 1) keep the page as 'liquid' as possible 2) make the #navcontainer and #rh-col line up at the top edges, regardless of how deep the #hdr div gets when someone decides to increase font-size. 3) maintain a minimum width on the #rh-col so images that appear in some of the other pages using the same layout don't get messed up. (I think the min-width should be about 450px) I'm getting the feeling that there's something very basic about absolute vs relative positioning that I am just missing. Thanks in advance for all advice. Re: [WSG] print headers/footers
I've done that with a header for the print version only, but because we can't reliably control page breaks, I'm lost on how to make sure our logo shows up on each printed page. All is fine if it prints out to only one page, or even two, because I can use both a header and a footer, but the pages in between are left without the logo. Any ideas? Barb Bert Doorn wrote: Hi Barbara The easiest way, for me, was to add the header in a paragraph or div at the bottom of the page, hiding it in the display style sheet and displaying it in the print style sheet. See my site www.betterwebdesign.com.au for an example (do a print preview on any page - quite different from onscreen layout). I don't believe CSS can insert content itself - it's about presentation. You may find a hack that will interact with the browser's page setup, but I'm not aware of any and it will depend on the browser used. Re: [WSG] IE doesn't like my positioning
No, you're just seeing the result of a server-side include there. IE doesn't have a problem with that, or none of our Web site would ever work. :) Is there something about right margins, maybe? The div that creates the far left column with the logos in it works fine with left, right and top properties. I've tried replacing the 'width' property in the two divs that aren't working with a right property, but that isn't working, either. Re: [WSG] IE doesn't like my positioning
Thanks! Believe me, I know there's lots more to be dealt with. I inherited this site when I took the job and found that there had been no single person in charge of the site. We're definitely starting from scratch with a redesign, but we have to keep putting bandaids on the existing site until that's ready to go. Again, thanks a million for finding my problem. I would NEVER have found that. Barb Robert Moser wrote: This specific problem is caused by the nobr tag at the end of your div with an id of div3. Since you don't close that tag and IE is operating in quirks mode, it happily applies it to the rest of the page. Plenty of other problems to fix after that. It may actually be easier to start this site over from scratch rather than try to fix all the problems. But if you want to fix it in place I'd recommend as a first step looking at the validator (http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1uri=http%3A//www.pcc.com/clients/uc/welcometest.html).
