Hi Philipp,
Yes, that's exactly how we have it set up. We're trying to streamline
things as much as possible and if there is a way to remove the
intermediate host it would make things a lot cleaner. I think as John
pointed out that there would need to be an x2goserver running under
Windows in order to do that.

Gerry

You could run rdesktop through x2go as a seemless application. That way
you wouldn't notice the intermediate host.

Yes - fully agreed. X2Go Server for Windows! What a thought!

John,
We see the same thing. The only issue is that it's more complexity when
using an intermediate host. It would be nice if we could find a way to
do this more directly using NX so that there wasn't a need for the
intermediate host.

Perhaps I misunderstand the question. If you wish to view a remote X11
Desktop from an XP station, why not just use X2Go?

Regarding conversion, our anecdotal analysis is that it seems faster to
run the NX protocol to connect to a remote Linux desktop and then
rdesktop to a local Windows computer rather than to run RDP directly
across a WAN. I do not know if others share that same experience - John

Re: [X2go-dev] convert X11 to RDP

2010-07-22 Thread Jörg Sawatzki
Hey,

have a look at xrdp - http://xrdp.sourceforge.net
This is, as far as I know, the one and only RDP server for Unix-like
systems and works quite well on my Ubuntu 10.04 box here. If you are
using Ubuntu as well, it is alreaddy in the repositories and the only
thing you have to do is: sudo apt-get install xrdp

Hope that helps,

Jörg
